Just So You Know

Friday, December 30, 2011

It would seem another year is about to become history and many of you take this time to reflect, I do not reflect that well. As promised though, I will end this year with a “Just so you know” post.

Just so you know… I am ending 2011 with an awful head cold. The kind that burns your nose and makes you appear to be crying. Ah-chew!

Holiday Moments

Wednesday, December 28, 2011

Another week I was not here, another week I was not there either. I was somewhere in my mind I would just as soon not be, ever been there? Have you ever been to that place in your mind where you hate to be but know you must go?

That is where I spent my Christmas. The weekend before Christmas my grandmother was put in the hospital and the week continued to ebb and flow right through to Christmas day. Christmas morning my mom lost her beloved little poodle but don’t be sad I had my moments.

What Time Is It?

Wednesday, December 14, 2011

Somewhere between evening twilight and darkness, time blurs reality with shadows. It is the time when angels lag behind and evil knows it cannot be seen, you feel small. Do you know this time?

It is the time of day when the wickedness of the world seeps in your room and transforms itself to mystical, dancing pillars of mist. The angels watch, far in the distance but the dancing mist obscures their view. A shadow flinches in the corner, did it actually move?

To Answer Questions

Tuesday, December 6, 2011

Almost a month ago I was on track and handling life as it came, then in the blink of an eye that changed. What changed, where have I been, why have I been avoiding you, and most importantly who hid the charger chord to my laptop?

Life throws us many curve balls; some we see coming and we do not swing at. Some we don’t see coming and find ourselves looking back as the ball passes to see nothing but the catcher smiling. That would be me, looking back at one ugly catcher. To answer your questions though…

My Veteran

Friday, November 11, 2011

Here in America we are celebrating Veterans Day, a tribute to our fighting forces. A valid, respectful holiday I feel. A day we salute all the veterans; past, present and future, who afford us our freedoms but they are not alone. Did you know, here in America, we have forgotten veterans?

A category of veteran that has no holiday; no lobbyist banging home their contributions to our country and ask for only a smile. An acknowledgement of the fact they are, a veteran. Do you know these veterans?

Ugh…. You Know

Wednesday, November 9, 2011

Don’t you? I would think you do know that anything I do, I do wholeheartedly and with purpose. It may take me some time to come to that reasoning but once I do…

I am purpose driven and I will tell you right up front, with a heavy sigh, I failed my mission.

FREE PLOTS

I know NANO is going on for many of you writers and this year I wondered, what on earth can I do to help? I studied on this for a moment, trying to recall your suffering from last year and then it hit me!

I remember some of you just had a dang hard time even starting, an idea was born. Not to take up too much of your valuable writing time I am offering a few free plots here. Feel free to steal any or all.

Trick or Treat

Friday, October 28, 2011

Last week was my birthday week and before we get all carried away THANK YOU for all the wishes. I spent it raking leaves and then flat on my back for 3 days with vertigo, which is why I'm just making it back.

In the spirit of the holiday I thought I would share both trick and treat with you, a day with my granny. Been a while since I wrote about her and believe me when I say, a day with her reverberates trick or treat.

I found myself at the base of a mountain.
”Climb it and you will see the sea,” that is what they said.
So I climbed the mountain just to see the sea.
The mountain became angry.
You must be chosen to see the sea
”The sea, the sea, I want to see the sea,”
The mountain it obliged, laughed real hard…
and rolled me down into the sea.

Kentucky Fights Back

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

Has crime escalated in your part of the world? Stealing seems to have become a new pastime here and I am quite proud my fellow Kentuckians are not taking it lying down.

With the state of the world being what it is people, I can only presume, are doing what they feel necessary to survive. I’m being polite here but a few of these folks have felt the Kentucky sting.

I’m late, I’m late, for a very important date… nah, not really. I haven’t had an important date in years and I believe my calendar just cleared a bit more but that is a whole other story. So what am I late for?

To be totally honest I’m not sure but I feel as though I am late for something and it is frustrating. I mean what do you wear for an important meeting you have no clue about? Do I plan for a social class I’m not accustom to or a  designated driver or both?

There is something definitely wrong with me and I know this why? It is not because some high charging medically educated person pointed this out. It is more that I have self diagnosed myself. Did I forget to tell you I was a doctor?

To realize all that is wrong with one’s self does not always require a medical professional, sometimes it just requires silence. I have experienced a ton of silence this month and the diagnosis?

I’m Coming Out

Friday, October 7, 2011

You unplug, take a break and go to sleep. Only to find you wake up with questions that require real thought to answer. What have I learned in the last two weeks? Where have I been?

Valid questions that one would think one could answer or at least account for. I’m not sure I actually know where I have been but I have learned a few things. Allow me to come out and share.

So where have I been? Well I thought I knew where I was but if you ask those who are trying to explain this Google+ then I have been somewhere else, a cave. I’m not even sure as I write this I will be able to figure out how to post it. Is this a plot to hide the rainbow?

I have tried three times to find my dashboard and as of now I’m still not sure where they hid it. Any one with a good map of Googletown will you please forward me a PDF?! But none of this is what I came here for, not at all. Why then did I come?

Red Box of Death

Wednesday, September 7, 2011

I am extremely busy with my small architectural project and I did not have time for this. Apparently the "Red Box" of death is making another round through the blogosphere. I want you to know I will continue to follow everyone but ....

Until this situation has corrected its self I have removed the blog roll widget from my blog. It's not like I get a ton of comments anyway but to have my page display as if I have cooties is just down right wrong. I've never had cooties, fleas maybe but never cooties.

I must now return to pulling my hair out, one hair at a time. :)

Do You Know This Man?

Monday, September 5, 2011

He heard the rain, it had begun as a drizzle. Soon that drizzle turned to a downright rain and settled in for an all-night event. Not exactly what he had planned but all in all, maybe a good thing? The rain was comforting compared to the other surrounding audio that filled the room.

He lay there staring at the ceiling trying desperately not to think of what the morning would bring. His eyes closed, he concentrated on the rhythmic sound of rain falling to the beat of the universe. Why did the rain not calm him anymore, nor woo him to sleep as past rains had done?

Nightmare"s: Fact or Fiction?

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

Warning: this is a personal dump.

Last night I awoke at 1 in the morning, sweating and shaking from terror, a nightmare. I had suffered from one of those dreams so real the lines of reality were but a blur. Ever have one of those dreams?

My dream was like the time and space continuum seem to have melted into one warped image (think Dali’s “Melting Clocks). The exact content of my dream will not be divulged but note it was a nightmare, an image only I can see and feel. What was the exact point to this dream?

Al Roker is standing on a beach in Duck, NC. He must either make a ton of money or lost part of his brain with all that weight. I have been to Duck; in fact I have a ton of memories of Duck.

Why Was I Not Told?

Wednesday, August 24, 2011

That is my question of the week, well maybe just one more; do you listen or do you talk? Myself, I try to do both; don’t think you are going to talk to me and not get my opinion. Isn’t that what conversation is all about, back and forth, give and take?

To listen, actually listen, is something I have had to work hard at; it did not always come easy to me. I use to have a bad habit of being two steps ahead of the conversation and often would say something that made me sound like a total idiot. A few moments later it made sense. Again, I ask, “Why was I not told?”

Blogger Has me Tied Up

Let’s Go to the Fair

Wednesday, August 17, 2011

This post is in regards to state fairs and up front I want to say in NO way is this a slight on the tragedy in Indianapolis. My heart goes out to the victims and families.

Before that though I had been thinking of attending our state fair, it starts tomorrow. As a child I use to love going to the fair; all the visual stimulation, the melting pot of aromas, and of course all the freebies.

The thought occurred to me that each day the fair changes, how am I to pick the best day for my visit? What day would host the shows I really wanted to see? Yes, I let my fingers tickle the keys over the internet in search of what I deemed worthy shows. I’ll tell you right now, just slap me and knock the shock right off my face.

Tis My Season

Friday, August 12, 2011

This lovely stuff is in full bloom here and due to all the spring rains we are having a bumper crop. I know it is pretty but not if you are allergic. It does this to my eyes.

See the map of the universe in there? It is but then on top of red, they are swollen sort of like this poor fellows.

And no wonder, this is what is floating around in my eyes. From what I can see they sure look like they feel.

While in this state of allergy eyes I miss things or see things not truly as they are, sort of like squinting and making things in the clouds. I say this because I will be reading blogs in spurts and I hope my eyes see exactly what is there. Should a comment seem totally off the wall, you have been warned, blamed it on the little spiked balls floating in my eyes.

In doing my research of photos to better inform you I came upon this one. Will someone explain what this has to do with allergy eyes?

Rainbow  Peace... and have a great weekend!

Something is Amiss

Wednesday, August 10, 2011

The sun was not up and shadows danced their final waltz as I flipped the light switch. “Ah coffee, I need coffee,” my first thought on any given morning. Something was different though, something was amiss; what am I not seeing?

As I poured in the water, I giggled at the additional shadows the light created for the final waltz. Patiently waiting by the door the girls began to do the, “Let me out, I have to pee dance” and I obliged them. As the door came to I again felt that tug, “Something was not right, something is amiss; what am I not seeing?”

Road Trip Pictures

I left you last week discussing reflections of a completed project and my girls suggesting a road trip. I took the road trip, totally solo, a new feat for me. How was it and where did I go?

I packed my truck and headed dead north to the lovely city of Cleveland, Ohio. Situated on Lake Erie and home of the Rock n’ Roll hall of fame I saw and conquered as much of Cleveland as I could in one day. Allow me…

Dog Days of Summer

Friday, August 5, 2011

The sun went down, the weariness of the day sat in and my girls took pity. Just like children, animals have their moments when their soul is all you see. Moments when you just know exactly what they are thinking. Either that or I was more exhausted than I thought I was.

We sat in the living room, as we usually do on any given evening and I broke out the laptop. This is when their souls begin to chirp. As I looked up waiting for the screen to boot I swear I heard them say, “Mom, can we talk?”

Reflections…

Wednesday, August 3, 2011

At the completion of a situation in your life have you ever looked back and asked, “What really did I learn from this?” After working for the past month it put me back in touch and now that it over, I had to look back.

I had to ask myself, “What really should I be taking from this? Is there a lesson to be learned here?” While I have been waiting all morning for the storms to stop and the internet to come back, I did just that; reflected.

Come See What I Did!

Monday, August 1, 2011

If you are reading this first sentence from a reader, stop cheating! You have to be on the actual blog for the full surprise and YES, it will be different.

Before I went to serious work on my temporary project, I left something hanging. Rather than wait for the entire re-vamp I am unavailing my new look.

New month, new look; why not? So, what do you think? I was sort of sick of pastels and wanted something a bit more true to me. I have more changes to complete however; I will handle that in stages. Hope I did not freak you out. Now…

Four weeks ago I sort of fell off the blog edge to work for money, Thursday that will end. My ability to once again earn money will be over, for now; back to blogging.

For all of you who have stuck with me, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have missed you; I have missed reading about all your adventures, reviews, advise, stories, poems and in general, you.

I’ll be making the rounds to drop little smiley faces and comments your way. For now though I just wanted to let you know about the new look. You are in the right place, but if not, click the follow button anyway.
Open-mouthed smile

When is a Possum not a Possum?

Monday, July 25, 2011

When is a possum not a possum? Saturday was yard work day that was delayed due to a 20% chance of rain. We thought if we divided and conqueror, with each assigned specific tasks, it would divide the time. Not really what happened.

What happened was we lost 5 pounds walking out the door, only to be followed with, “I forgot the shed key can you bring it?” The response, “where is the weed eater gas can?” Needless to say the first half-hour was spent laughing at our age or at least making fun of it.

So much for adhering to a schedule, life just did not want to be scheduled. I did however, have the best intentions but then there is a saying about that. Being a good blogger was just not in the cards with it being a short week.

I did think about blogging and as I was racking my brain on how to make a window water tight in a 1 foot thick wall I really missed it! Throughout the week numerous things crossed my mind as post worthy. Rather than save them, here is what crossed my mind this week.

Define Life? Or What Reminds You.

Tuesday, June 28, 2011

“Out of sync and out of time,” is my next bumper sticker. I now realize this defines me at the present, been too long and I’m out of practice with a real life. But then what is a real life? What defines that definition of life?

After completing my first week strapped to a PC solving roof connecting to walls and does that wall look right to you, my life went on hold.  I forgot what defined me as a living person. Thankfully, I have people around me who knew I needed reminding.

So many of us are wishing for that money train to come rolling along, that we have forgotten what the ride is really like. We have forgotten the ups and downs, the ends and outs and ah yes, the universe. The universe has to stick its nose in.

Absence in More Ways Than One

Wednesday, June 15, 2011

I do not know who, or if anyone will get this but in case you do, I have been totally sick. On top of being under the weather it seems Blogger has decided I’m not worthy of being in your dashboard. Great just what I needed, another way to be absent.

Let me start by apologizing for the first form of absence. I contracted some major bad stomach virus over the weekend, I presume from the dirt I was working in. I spent 2 days in the fetal position and seriously felt the cold bathroom linoleum a blessing. At least now I can sit up.

I was Blinded by the Light

When one sits in the dark waiting for ole man sol to make his appearance things emerge from the shadows, things you may not expect. If one chooses one can see evil, creepy things lurking to pounce, but me? I was blinded by the light.

Well I don’t get those. I have always let my heart guide the way, it has never let me down nor abandoned me and always made me feel like I had a purpose to my being.
