Hey, Pull My Chain

Friday, April 20, 2012

It was not a chance meeting, I mean after all, the sun was out and you expect to see someone you know enjoying the weather. This however was not what I had in mind nor need at this point in my life.

I had noticed him the moment I opened the door but intentionally avoided eye contact to get the patio. Apparently that did not work and his pick-up line?

Define Life? Or What Reminds You.

Tuesday, June 28, 2011

“Out of sync and out of time,” is my next bumper sticker. I now realize this defines me at the present, been too long and I’m out of practice with a real life. But then what is a real life? What defines that definition of life?

After completing my first week strapped to a PC solving roof connecting to walls and does that wall look right to you, my life went on hold.  I forgot what defined me as a living person. Thankfully, I have people around me who knew I needed reminding.

C = Cooties

Monday, April 4, 2011

Yes, you read the title right, I need to know. What happen to Cooties? Did you not know someone when you were young that had “Cooties?” I knew lots of children with Cooties and yet, now I hear of none. What happen to cooties?

Do you remember cooties? Throughout childhood there was always at least one child that had this affliction and you steered clear. Not a bullying tactic as much as you did not want to catch cooties. The affliction did not last long and always got transferred to another child. So, did these children get, “HEALED?”

When Christmas Presents Attack

Friday, February 18, 2011

It is nearly spring so I feel it is imperative that I warn you about unattended Christmas presents.  Did you know they can get ticked off?

They can and do.When left to their own devices, your Christmas presents will revolt and can cause you bodily harm. I know I have committed this dreadful act and nearly drowned.

Two years ago I received a present that I both, needed and wanted, a full body bath pillow. When you are bony and love two-hour long baths a pillow is a luxury. My mother honored me with this long desired luxury present.

Have You Seen These?

Thursday, October 28, 2010

As a continuation of a busy evening, I have a busy day to get through. The storms left a real sense of fall in the air and I have noticed everyone is in the trick or treat spirit. So in the sentiment of the season I thought I would share a couple of humorous Halloween photos.

First though, I'd like to thank everyone for stopping by yesterday and commenting. As you know I have a hard time handing out awards, I think you all deserve one. Any who, let me say you are special and not unnoticed. Now.. the photos.

Up In Smoke

Monday, October 25, 2010

With the snap of a lighter she lit the skinny poison stick. Exhaling, smoke mesmerized her from yesterday to tomorrow and the thoughts of a life vanished in a wisp of smoke. The curled, dancing trail reminded her of an evil seductress.  It called her name, moved in beauty and left her wanting more.

Every movement of her hand left a gray twirling trail of wonder, a sign of whence it came and yet it would vanish as if never there. “How apropos,” she thought, taking her eyes away from the seduction of the smoke.

As she looked away the sound of rain gently falling broke the trance. A smile managed to curl itself upon her face. The smell of freshness strolled right in and escorted the memorizing smoke deep into nothingness. “Thank you,” was all she could mutter.

I'll Catch You a Cloud

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

It had been a hard summer. Hot, humid, with very little rain. Crops were drying up in the fields, grass not maturing for hay; it definitely was going to be a hard winter. “Sweet pea its time to come in,” she shouted out the back door heading toward the stove.

Within moments a curly, blonde haired bundle of joy came rushing in the room. “Mommy, mommy, I found a new frog, can I keep it?” the little girl asked. “No, sweet pea, that’s gods creature it must remain where he left it, besides you need to eat and get ready for bed,” the heavy sound of worry lingered in her voice, “tomorrow is your first day of school.”

The evening passed as they carried out the their nightly routine; television, bath, story and then bed. All through the evening the little girl could tell her mom was worried, she could see it in the wrinkles on her face. As the little girl was put to bed, she reached up placed her arms around her mother’s neck and said, “Mommy it will be alright.” “I hope so sweet pea, now go to sleep, I’ll see you in the morning.”

Youth in a Barrel, Who Knew?

Friday, July 30, 2010

Eyes puffy and swollen from lack of sleep, she searched her mind for clarity. But her mind kept returning to the kitchen table where a small barrel full of wooden shapes now resided. What on earth had possessed her to purchase it and why had it kept her up all night?

Yesterday she was strolling the aisles of her local Peddlers Mall when a lonely barrel had caught her eye. Sitting there tucked away on the floor, partially hidden by a pair of gaudy drapes, she had seen the bottom rim. Without hesitating she placed the small barrel in her cart to purchase, three dollars was deal and so she took her barrel home.

I Have a Secret Admirer......

Friday, July 23, 2010

Yesterday I came to think I must have a secret admirer. Not the average; send me flowers, send me a gift admirer, but rather a thoughtful admirer or so I believed. How do you know they are admirers, anyway?

Aren’t secret admirers generally someone whom we leave a wonderful lasting impression with? Someone that follows up with an unexpected something and a note that reads, “Thank you, a secret admirer?” I can honestly think of no such encounter recently.

But then, my secret admirer left no such note, just numerous unexpected items all in the form of emails. They seem to have my best interest at heart or at least that is what I hoped.

Just A Smile, Ask The Shoeshine Man

Friday, July 16, 2010

Yesterday was such a wonderful day for me, reading all those comments and gathering new friends, I had fun. Thank you all. But this morning as I tired to write I felt somewhat pressured and began to be over whelmed by the fear of how to follow such a whirlwind post. So how do I follow that?

I pulled up some rough drafts I had wrote and found this one. I hope you don’t mind but I felt it attribute to the emotions I have from your presence here yesterday. Please except it as my thank you for commenting on and following my blog.

Veggie of the Year. Hey, Did You Get to Vote?

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

I received an email this morning that honestly has me contemplating what actually is in my salad? I’m sure it was sent as one of those funny, yet statistical attempts to brighten my day but it has left me somewhat perplexed.  What was in this email? Well the title read, “Cucumber; veggie of the year.”

Yes, the cucumber. I did not know we could even cast a ballot for vegetable of the year; maybe I should network more? Any who; let me recap the reasons this green tubular should be vegetable of the year and why now I am so perplexed.

It's A Heat Wave and I Had Peas For Dinner

Wednesday, July 7, 2010

I don’t know about you but where I am we are in the grips of a heat wave and being hot and sweating is my least favorite thing. That does not mean I can shuck my outdoor duties nor does it mean that I cannot find humor in it either. So in 95-degree heat how on earth did I find humor?

I knew first thing it was going to be a real hot one. How, you ask? As I opened the door for my furry friends to have their morning romp, all three stopped suddenly at the door. In unison I heard them say, “No way, we can hold it.”

Optimism: I'm in Training

Tuesday, June 8, 2010

Are you an optimist, is your sun always shining? It is a wonderful thing when one can be so positive that even the largest mountain seems climbable, I am not that person. I fear I am an optimistic trainee, a sun seeker in training. I have to ask, did you go through optimism training?

Being optimistic I realize for some is just a fact of birth, for others it is a learned skill and to those I ask, how do you achieve this skill? I try my best but I do not feel I’m honing this skill as efficiently as I could be.

Cemetery Traditions: Rocks or Poop?

Sunday, May 30, 2010

Last week the usual trio of my mother, grandmother and myself made a follow up trip to the cemetery. We went to check the progress of the flowers we had planted, do you plant flowers for Memorial Day? Well we do and until this visit I did not know other faiths had different traditions. Did you know this? Do you know what they are?

We finish our planting, drive around and visit other, not so, recent relatives scattered throughout the cemetery and view the new flowers. As we made our way through the cemetery I saw the most curious sight and it nagged at me all the way home.

Synthetic Life, Wenlock and Mandeville

Friday, May 21, 2010

Something happened on my way to bed last night. Somewhere along the way my mental wires got crossed and I totally confused two entirely different stories. Have you ever done that? Have you ever been watching and listening to something only to get the words and pictures messed up?

Last night as I readied the house for nightly shut down and prepped the kitchen for the morning to come I switched the TV to a news channel. I just wanted my nightly fix before I went to bed but what I got almost kept me up all night.

Invisible Clothing: Hazardous to Your Health

Thursday, April 29, 2010

Do you have an invisible shirt? No, not a shirt that is invisible but one that when you put it on it makes you invisible. I did not know such clothing articles existed but apparently I have several pieces of such attire. How do you tell if you own such articles of clothing? What should you do if you find them in your closet?

How you tell if you own such clothing articles can be tricky but they can be identified. The only tool required will be a way to document the time, place and reason for the offending articles you are wearing. A permanent marker can also be useful for label marking but is not required. Let’s look at the ways to identify these articles of clothing.

Illegal Immigrant’s: Travel Advisory

Tuesday, April 27, 2010

Illegal immigrants please take note. Regardless of what you have been told, regardless of what propaganda you have been handed, this is not the land of opportunity. You have been misled and I fear this disillusion will only cause undo stress to the already stressful journey you took to get here. Please let me enlighten you on the real state of our union.

No, you may not be allowed to come here and enjoy the fruits of your laborious trades. Yes, there are agriculture jobs available but you must be able to relocate and frequently. We seemed to have made the planet mad and are experiencing numerous natural disasters that will require you to locate where ever the crops are currently not destroyed. No, a relocation allowance is not provided and career advancement is limited since corporate agriculture has purchased most of the family farms.

Supernatural Portal: I Think Not

Wednesday, April 21, 2010

Okay now I’m starting to wonder what really is going on in my house? Though I have yet to blog about the ghost I fear I have and how it appears to be a kleptomaniac, I have reported on alien spies disguised as dust bunnies. What now has me truly concerned is that I learned last Friday from my mother what I thought were alien spies are really spirits coming and going.

I hope you can now see my fear, I have a kleptomaniac ghost, aliens trashing my house and now I have to deal with spirits rolling in and out. I really do not have time for all of this; I’m trying to find a job.
