Hey, Pull My Chain

Friday, April 20, 2012

It was not a chance meeting, I mean after all, the sun was out and you expect to see someone you know enjoying the weather. This however was not what I had in mind nor need at this point in my life.

I had noticed him the moment I opened the door but intentionally avoided eye contact to get the patio. Apparently that did not work and his pick-up line?

Can I Call it a Walk-About?

Friday, March 30, 2012

The Aussie’s call it a walk-about, some call it soul searching, whatever I’ve been there. I awoke one morning needing to change my life and I just walked out, metaphorically speaking. Its funny how you try to take the bull by the horns only to have to the horns come off in your hands but that’s another post, my walk-about.

One morning I just took out walking to feel the cadence of one foot in front of the other. A step at a time I was walking in the realm of my own possibilities. I lost all track of distance and time, night fell and with all that walking I was parched; great a bar.

Did not think twice, walked right in and my arm went instantly into the, “I’m here, need a drink” motion. I didn’t even look at the bar keep, “Shot of tequila, in fact make it two” I muttered. He said something about the salt being in front of me and asked if I wanted a lemon? To which I replied, “Do I look like a sissy drinker, just the shots please.”

Earthquake

The first Friday of the New Year and I’m sitting here pounding my head on the screen trying to knock a thought out. Not that I don’t have any but rather I have too many and I have to pick. Hummmm… which will be my expunged thought of the day?

I had this thought way back mid-last year but the timing was not right. I feel safe now in sharing this story and yes, it is a true story. My first Friday entry shall be a story.

My Dearest Secret Love;

I have no idea as to how long we have played this dangerous game nor how we ever met, too much time has passed. Our secret rendezvous have become the meaning of my life and I have found myself craving you more and more.

There are those who gossip behind your back and what they say is never good. You are enchanting and prey upon the weak. Lure them in, fill them with goodness and then, slowly break their heart. This is not the love I know or is it?

A Smell, Nasty & a Music Score

Wednesday, June 1, 2011

The music will start now, be ready! For those stopping by for East for Green Eyes Score Blogfest my entry is at the end.

Ah sunrise, no other time like it or so she thought. It is a time of day when the amber flickering of light casts shadows on the world. When the flora and fauna dance around reflecting their morning glitter.

”I’ll just stroll around the yard, collect some morning glitter on my feet,” she thought but the shadows began to snicker. It was as if they mocked her and all the while lured her, there is no evil in the morning light. She should have known not to believe the passing wind.

I Blame it on the Robin

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

Whatever happened to spring? The monsoon stopped and summer entered. Monday afternoon the girls and I actually got to be outdoors to enjoy the long lost sun but it was short lived. Why you ask?

It was not the weather that drove us in. Even now, I am not 100% sure as to what but I’m thinking it was the robin. While weedy the fence line my youngest furry child came running to me in fear and this is what I think took place.

Kook

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

Once upon a time there lived a girl, who for the purpose of this story, was simply know as Kook. Kook looked like no other, talked like no other and to her dismay, was claimed by no other; forever just a Kook.

A simple little creature that was totally content to roam the streets of Kleptomania. Clad with plaid knickers over which a kimono she did wear and on her feet were K-Swiss sneakers, on her head a kite. A fashion queen she was not but she loved the audible gasps as people passed her by.

Meshe and You Have to See This

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Meshe was not an ordinary child. She did not play the usual games little girls play and for that matter hated dressing like a little girl. On any given day she heard the words, “that is not lady like,” and in her own defense would snap back, “Well why not?”

All throughout her childhood she defied girly things and when the adolescent years hit nothing really changed. Meshe could have cared less about what other girls thought or what she should have been wearing to fit in. Meshe was a fun junkie.

Have You Seen Charlie & Sam?

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

Charlie and Sam met in a bar. A sort of bar that is an out of the way, hole-in-the-wall, place where people go in an effort to not be found. The bar lacked décor which was the décor. No table and chairs, just a bar. A place everyone is welcome and one that wears the nicks and dings of past patrons with pride. There at the end, sat Charlie.

An elegant sort of being, Charlie sat alone. To Charlie presentation was the key. On his small frame, he wore a perfectly matching suit, trimmed and pressed in crisp lines, in which he sat with perfect posture. Charlie lived by the motto, “Speak when spoken to, and mind your own business.” Yet, with this entire perfectly elegant aura, Charlie was alone.

Exactly How Do You Get Goo Out?

Friday, November 12, 2010

He crept in a window. Except for shadows, the room was void. Oak floors creaked as he slumped in the corner. There, among the shifting, sinister shadows he found his home. Drool oozing from the corner of his mouth came a snicker, “Here I will dwell.”

She walked in the door. A lifetime of memories was in this room. Heels clacked on hard wood as she simply passed the shadowy perch. Weak, lost in a moment, peripheral vision failed her. A sinister extremity of shadow goo brushed her bare arm. Tears welling in her eyes came a whimper.

My Lonely Little Morning Star

Sunday, October 24, 2010

I gaze out at a small orange band of color; almost dawn. There just to the left holding onto the last few twinkles of night is one lone star. Like the pulse of my universe this star beats in simple white. I stop to watch the lifeline and ask, “What happens when the sun out shines your beat?”

The twinkle of the star slowly ebbs and with one last twinkle, winks and says “goodbye.” The sun does seize this moment and declares for all to hear, “I’ll take this morn.” The explosion is in a glorious array of victory splendor; daybreak is here. Oh my, the sun has won. The lonely star has gone. To where has my morning star gone?

Monday's Monster

Monday, September 27, 2010

Eye to eye she stood locked with the beast. The surprise encounter had turned to a stalemate; neither felt a need to blink. Tall in stature the creature stood with a sense of arrogance and yet it was curious. “I am not impressed,” it seemed to say, as it lowered its head and gave a snort. She would not flinch. “Why are you so mean?” she demanded.

The creature had scented her out, the snort a sign of unimpressed interest. Now with each breath its nostrils began to ebb and flow. Heavy air hung around them like syrup in the sky; breathing was not easy. “You know I must do this?” she quizzed as the beast just stood its ground.

Sunday's Ripples; Are yours in Color?

Sunday, September 19, 2010

There by the fountain pond, in a beautiful tree lined park sat a woman. She had come to the park to escape the dullness of her life. “Get out be alive,” she thought but the dullness only jaded her view.  Looking out into the vast landscape her eyes found the pond. “Where has all my color gone?”

She gazed deep with in the water, as if the pool of liquid held a clue. The deeper she stared, the darker the water grew. “You hold no color, only fathoms on my soul,” she cried. “Where is my color?” again she asked.

It was then a ripple in the water gently ambled into view, and with the ripple came a color. White, she knew to some was not a color, yet to her contrasting the darkness it would do. It was a change. With the ripple came another and another, “Why do ripples have your color?” she asked.

Is Your Life in a Box?

Tuesday, September 7, 2010

Late again and scurrying to complete her morning routine she felt the thought creep in. The anger of her tardiness was taking slow control. Oh, how she hated to be late. The thought of having to say, “Sorry I’m late,” made her skin cringe. She also knew at some point she would ask herself, “What did I forget?”

Sometime around her morning coffee break that question grabbed her. “What did I forget?” she asked herself. Replaying slowly in her mind the morning routine and checking items off one at a time. Remembering the final glance she always took in the dresser mirror her mind stopped dead in thought.

The Beauty of a Waltz

Thursday, September 2, 2010

Staring out her window she could not say exactly how it went. Every detail was not clear. In her mind, she now held dearly to the beauty and longevity of her story. “Yes my dear you did dance.”

To attend she made no plans, the thought never crossed her mind. It had been a whim, a spur of the moment attendance. A moment in which she had been taught the life altering fact; she really loved the dance.

I'll Catch You a Cloud

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

It had been a hard summer. Hot, humid, with very little rain. Crops were drying up in the fields, grass not maturing for hay; it definitely was going to be a hard winter. “Sweet pea its time to come in,” she shouted out the back door heading toward the stove.

Within moments a curly, blonde haired bundle of joy came rushing in the room. “Mommy, mommy, I found a new frog, can I keep it?” the little girl asked. “No, sweet pea, that’s gods creature it must remain where he left it, besides you need to eat and get ready for bed,” the heavy sound of worry lingered in her voice, “tomorrow is your first day of school.”

The evening passed as they carried out the their nightly routine; television, bath, story and then bed. All through the evening the little girl could tell her mom was worried, she could see it in the wrinkles on her face. As the little girl was put to bed, she reached up placed her arms around her mother’s neck and said, “Mommy it will be alright.” “I hope so sweet pea, now go to sleep, I’ll see you in the morning.”

The Whisper of the Wind

Thursday, August 19, 2010

Standing eerily still, toes balancing precariously on the jagged edge, the dark black fissure seemed evil. Scared yet curious, she slowly lowered her eyes to within. There in the emptiness of the abyss she felt it, unspeakable darkness; a darkness that could eat your soul.  Suddenly, without provocation, in a wickedly evil voice came a verbal attack. “You will not make it to the other side.”

Just A Smile, Ask The Shoeshine Man

Friday, July 16, 2010

Yesterday was such a wonderful day for me, reading all those comments and gathering new friends, I had fun. Thank you all. But this morning as I tired to write I felt somewhat pressured and began to be over whelmed by the fear of how to follow such a whirlwind post. So how do I follow that?

I pulled up some rough drafts I had wrote and found this one. I hope you don’t mind but I felt it attribute to the emotions I have from your presence here yesterday. Please except it as my thank you for commenting on and following my blog.
