Just So You Know

Friday, December 30, 2011

It would seem another year is about to become history and many of you take this time to reflect, I do not reflect that well. As promised though, I will end this year with a “Just so you know” post.

Just so you know… I am ending 2011 with an awful head cold. The kind that burns your nose and makes you appear to be crying. Ah-chew!

Ugh…. You Know

Wednesday, November 9, 2011

Don’t you? I would think you do know that anything I do, I do wholeheartedly and with purpose. It may take me some time to come to that reasoning but once I do…

I am purpose driven and I will tell you right up front, with a heavy sigh, I failed my mission.

Why Was I Not Told?

Wednesday, August 24, 2011

That is my question of the week, well maybe just one more; do you listen or do you talk? Myself, I try to do both; don’t think you are going to talk to me and not get my opinion. Isn’t that what conversation is all about, back and forth, give and take?

To listen, actually listen, is something I have had to work hard at; it did not always come easy to me. I use to have a bad habit of being two steps ahead of the conversation and often would say something that made me sound like a total idiot. A few moments later it made sense. Again, I ask, “Why was I not told?”

Have you got a minute? I told you I had some questions and I do. Being Friday I thought it a good time to ask, it will give you the weekend to solve these little nuisances of mine. Oh and there is music.

I’m calling all you totally awesome people out there to chime in. Let me know, do you ever think like this or have encountered these. Don’t be shy, no one reads this in Washington, D.C.

Can You Say: "Road Trip!"

Thursday, October 14, 2010

Hey, I’m not really here. No I’m not and right now I have no idea where I am.  By the time you read this I will be well on my way to a weekend adventure, a long weekend adventure. Fun right? Where am I going?

Before I divulge my mystery destination allow me to digress a bit. I have spent the last two days packing and preparing for this long, over due excursion and you know what? I realize now why I love backpacking.

With backpacking you take only what is required for survival and can fit in your pack. If it has a chord you do not need it. If you asked yourself will i get to…you don’t need it. If you cannot use it, eat it or wear it, leave it at home. Sounds simple… right? On the other hand, you have civilized traveling.

Are You Apart of "One"?

Thursday, October 7, 2010

In the gentleness of night they sleep. Their warm, soft bodies lay still against the other and calmness fills the room. There is no need for emotion, no need for senseless wanting; just the need for rejuvenating slumber and the velvetiness of a touch. Can this not be the simplest joy of living?

No they are not lovers. According to all that is written they were not even suppose to be friends. Against all forces of nature, somehow, life long companions they have become. With no preconceived agenda in their heads and listening only to their hearts, the simple feeling to need another cemented them as one. Is this not how it is suppose to be?

Do You Have An Evil Screen?

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

Standing, peering out the back door sipping coffee came the visualization she had beaten the sun. The sun, turning and opening one eye was just now beginning to play tricks with shadows of the light; it was not awake. “Oh you are a sleepy head, I could sure use the light,” she muttered and some what miffed. “Well I cannot wait, not today.”

She closed the door slowly and headed for the other room. Still dark, her fingers tentatively reached for the light switch and turned it on. “Oh, no pain. I’m so thankful the light has become my friend again.”  The good omen made her happy and she continued one by one with the morning routine. It was there in this routine she found a tear, a single tear. “Why and how do did you get trapped in there?” she cried.

The Cycle of the Tree

Saturday, August 28, 2010

It was the first signs of autumn. Cool, sunny days with slightly chilly nights. The trees were letting go of their foliage one leaf at a time and the squirrels had started their gathering dance as they raced to collect their winter stash. “Yes, winter is not far,” she thought as a single leaf fell past her window.

Watching as it traveled downward in a slow, gentle sway, back and forth, she knew. In her heart she knew; it was looking for a softer place to fall. “Has the tree even noticed you are gone?” she questioned. To her, the leaf paid no mind and now lay solely on the ground.

Listen to Words But Hear The Tone

Monday, August 2, 2010

Sitting in a local coffee shop a lady was deep in nothing thoughts. Thoughts we allow to enter our consciousness just to fill the emptiness. Scanning the rest of the thoughtless patrons her eyes stopped on a very business like woman sitting alone against a street view window. “What nothing thoughts was she thinking, why was there such a lost look on her face?”

Not wanting to get caught staring in questionable wonder the lady looked away. It was as her eyes settled back on the dancing liquid rings in her cup she heard the entry bell ring; another thoughtless patron had arrived. The lady noticed the shadow as it passed her seat but paid it no mind, “heading to the restroom,” she imagined. But the thought was broken by the sound of a voice, “Mary, how have you been, I haven’t seen you in long time?”

All Blogs Have White Space

Saturday, July 17, 2010

I was up way too early this morning and while sitting in total silence I became aware of a hidden space. Not an ordinary space. If fact, I venture to say most would not even notice it as space. Still I found it; want to know where it is? Can I tell you what you will find?

Unless you look close, you think it to be an empty, void space and assume nothing to be there. That assumption would be wrong. This is anything but an empty or void space, I even wonder if it has enough space. I know, what is this space I keep referring to? Well, it is right here, can you not see it? Look closer.

Support An Artist; Buy A Lawn Tractor

Wednesday, July 14, 2010

As I looked out my kitchen window this morning at the newly formed dew, I was amazed at the sparkling reflections. It seemed as though the shimmer of light on the new moisture was doing a happy, welcome to the party, sun greeting. But wait, what kind of dance formation is that?

As I followed the glistening pattern further and further around the yard, it became very apparent to me, this was not the dew’s doing. The dew had no responsibility at all for what I was gazing upon, Ms. Twister…

Networking: It's An Order!

Saturday, July 10, 2010

It is official, I have been told I to get out of the house. No, I was not evicted or anything such as that. This is my housemate’s public service announcement for the week. My housemate swears it is for my own good. I need to network, network?

My housemate (let’s call her Twister) has informed me ever so stern I need to get out and network. What exactly does that mean? Is networking the professional version of “girls night out?” What ever,Twister informed me, “meeting people will lead to contacts and contacts lead to jobs, just do it.”

To My Cyber Family......

Tuesday, July 6, 2010

This morning as I read around my blog world a sudden pang hit my heart. Reading posts I had some how missed, in part thanks to Google, the feeling of an extended cyber family started to take hold. Do you have times when you read another's post and think, “that is exactly what I feel, think or do?”

Well, today it was one post after another that touched my heart or made me think. Oh, I left comments and tired to share the emotion that the post had invoked but felt those comments to be shallow. I felt the need to expand, to reach out to those whom had shared and touched. So what had I read?

Facebook Friends Defeat Funk Attack

Thursday, June 24, 2010

Yesterday I did not post for many reasons but mainly due to a major “Funk Attack.” I had spent the morning learning Congress thinks Greece and South Korea more worthy of my tax dollars than I. No worries; I’ll find something to get me out of this funk, “what’s happening on Facebook?”

Now I don’t know about you but I joined Facebook as a social thing, a way to stay in touch with family and friends, to be in the loop. What I have come to realize is that my so-called friends have secret desires I’m not sure I want to know about.

Baby Boomers: Can You Imagine?

Tuesday, June 1, 2010

We Baby Boomers were born at a rate of 300-plus a minute, another huge feat for the greatest generation. But have you ever thought about what it will be like when this generation gets old? Do you think we will take it lying down?

I am a Baby Boomer and lived through that part of American history that helped shape this country. The shear volume of my generation is what causes my concern and so I tried to imagine what I had to look forward to.  What would be different from what today’s elderly now has as amenities?

Well, grocery stores would have to make deliveries or install aisle lane markings. No way do they have room for all the motorized shopping carts that will be required. But the good news is pizzas, chips and beer will be sold in bulk, we are the “munchies” generation.

Cyber Peepers: Who Are You?

Monday, April 26, 2010

We would like to interrupt this blog post for a special announcement. It has come to the attention of this blogs manager; Fragile Mouse, (Frag-a-lee Mouse)  that you the readers are basically unknown.

Fragile noticed all the recent hit indicators on the world map and asked who you were; I did not know. Not the answer she was looking for and I received a bark lashing, followed by her refusing to play anymore. In an effort to restore order in my house and to better understand the readers I have compiled a small 10 question survey. Participation in the survey is optional but requested and you may respond to one or all of the following questions.  If you are ready here goes:
  1. Where are you located? (Names are optional)
  2. Do you prefer blind dates or speed dating? I guess you could prefer speedy blind dates but let’s keep it simple.
  3. Does the toilet paper go over or under?
  4. Can I wear shoes in your house or do I need new socks?
  5. If I Google your house, will it find it? Google does not know where the Emerald city is and it tells me I have to swim to London.
  6. Are you computer savvy or do you just have a savvy computer?
  7. Are you a cyberpeeper or a follower? Cyberpeepers are those who just hit your blog to raise the bounce rate, followers counteract the peepers.
  8. Do you walk your pet or does your pet walk you? (Children are included)
  9. How did you get to this page? Do you feel you belong or were you misguided by some search engine.
  10. How do you get to the Emerald city?
If you are unsure as to how to respond let me explain. Look down to the end of this post; see those blue icon thingies, click the one on the left that says “Comment” beside it. A window will pop up where you can enter your responses. Select whether or not you want me to know who you are and hit “Publish Comment.” That’s it, you are done.

Fragile Mouse wanted me to thank you in advance and is now off searching for her ball. I look forward to letting her know who exactly is leaving all those red dots on the map.

Breast Cancer and a Friend

Friday, March 26, 2010

Today will not be my usual posting of commentaries, random thoughts or me just blowing off steam. Today will be dedicated to a friend, a party pal, and vacation buddy who last night I found out was diagnosed with breast cancer. I do not want to get into the typically preaching of why we woman must take care of ourselves or the depressing views we can take when we receive news like this; I rather put out there all the positive memories I have made with this woman. I do this route for two reasons; one, I would rather the world know a smile is better than a frown and two, I want her to remain positive for the struggle ahead.

As I look back now on our numerous vacation trips to the Outer Banks I find myself reliving situations that I find most humorous. I recall it was our first vacation in the OBX when we stayed in the area of Avon. This part of the Outer Banks has very little of anything, you have one-way in by car and one way in by ferry. There is one grocery store, a hardware store, maybe six restaurants and hundreds of homes. One evening we decided to try our hand at a restaurant that was suppose to be the best of the six.
