Just So You Know

Friday, December 30, 2011

It would seem another year is about to become history and many of you take this time to reflect, I do not reflect that well. As promised though, I will end this year with a “Just so you know” post.

Just so you know… I am ending 2011 with an awful head cold. The kind that burns your nose and makes you appear to be crying. Ah-chew!

Holiday Moments

Wednesday, December 28, 2011

Another week I was not here, another week I was not there either. I was somewhere in my mind I would just as soon not be, ever been there? Have you ever been to that place in your mind where you hate to be but know you must go?

That is where I spent my Christmas. The weekend before Christmas my grandmother was put in the hospital and the week continued to ebb and flow right through to Christmas day. Christmas morning my mom lost her beloved little poodle but don’t be sad I had my moments.

My Veteran

Friday, November 11, 2011

Here in America we are celebrating Veterans Day, a tribute to our fighting forces. A valid, respectful holiday I feel. A day we salute all the veterans; past, present and future, who afford us our freedoms but they are not alone. Did you know, here in America, we have forgotten veterans?

A category of veteran that has no holiday; no lobbyist banging home their contributions to our country and ask for only a smile. An acknowledgement of the fact they are, a veteran. Do you know these veterans?

Trick or Treat

Friday, October 28, 2011

Last week was my birthday week and before we get all carried away THANK YOU for all the wishes. I spent it raking leaves and then flat on my back for 3 days with vertigo, which is why I'm just making it back.

In the spirit of the holiday I thought I would share both trick and treat with you, a day with my granny. Been a while since I wrote about her and believe me when I say, a day with her reverberates trick or treat.

Do You Know This Man?

Monday, September 5, 2011

He heard the rain, it had begun as a drizzle. Soon that drizzle turned to a downright rain and settled in for an all-night event. Not exactly what he had planned but all in all, maybe a good thing? The rain was comforting compared to the other surrounding audio that filled the room.

He lay there staring at the ceiling trying desperately not to think of what the morning would bring. His eyes closed, he concentrated on the rhythmic sound of rain falling to the beat of the universe. Why did the rain not calm him anymore, nor woo him to sleep as past rains had done?

Just So You Know

Friday, September 2, 2011

The beginning of the end or so it is for summer. Here it is going out with a bang, 96 today and 76 Sunday but I digress. I thought it only fitting to end the summer with another installment of "Just So You Know... Don't you think?

I know we are all going to be doing the last of summer, rush to complete dance, so I will keep this short. Just a few, random thoughts. Are you ready?

A Big Short Happy

Monday, July 4, 2011

I do not have a great deal of time here but I did want to get back to a schedule, so a short post, I hope. A very full schedule is what I’ve had since last posting and today is my holiday, I do love me some fireworks.

I am hoping my American friends all have big plans for the fourth and where you are there will be fireworks. Nothing says ”Independence” like colorful explosives.
A big happy Fourth to you all but I have other news…

Memorial Monday

Monday, May 30, 2011

I will make this quick. I still have a great deal to do this holiday. I wanted to wish you all happy Memorial Day and to encourage you to take a moment for those whom have gone before.

Wars have always both interested me and confused me. There are reasons when armed conflicts are necessary but still, never welcomed. Then there are wars when you just want to lock the two bullies in a closet and let them duke it out. Leave the rest of us out of it.

Derby memories and Mother Taught Me

Friday, May 6, 2011

Hey, do you have Kentucky Derby memories? Do you have plans for Mother’s Day? What a dilemma for Kentucky children.

I thought about sharing my Kentucky Derby memories and following with a special mother’s day post. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized, I don’t have that many derby memories.

Calling All Followers

Wednesday, February 9, 2011

Yes, you; pick up the phone. We need to talk. I have a few short items to tell you and I need to your help. Both are worthy of reading on.

Yesterday I was absent because of a virus attack. No, it was not the flu type but rather the cyber type. I was sitting here minding my own business when out from behind the World Wide Web I was attacked. Guess what?

My Last Post

Thursday, December 30, 2010

This will close the blogging year for me, my last post of 2010. Does one truly close a year? Do we file it away in the memory portion of our conscience, only to use it as reference? What really is a year to remember?

For me I will be starting the New Year in exactly the same place I started the last; under-educated, unemployed but hopeful as ever. Yes, I said hopeful. This past year taught me many new things; including the fact hope comes in small comment forms.

One small comment after another led me to smile. Smiles led to a tinge of hope and hope led me to, “Oh, yes I can.” It has been your consistent comments that have allowed me to believe again in, “The world truly is my oyster.”

“Just So You Know” Last One for 2010

Wednesday, December 29, 2010

Middle of the week, the last week of the year and I wanted to do one more “Just so you know” segment. It has been a while since I have added anything to the “Just so you know” category, have you missed it?

Any who, I hope you are enjoying your holidays and without further ado...

  • Just so you know … Mouse has passed everything but rawhide. We are going to assume she is alright and has a cast-iron stomach.

I Spent My Christmas Wishing For Poop

Monday, December 27, 2010

So? Did you have a wonderful Christmas, get all you asked for? Maybe you received several items that immediately went to the “re-gift” box for next year. Either way Christmas has come and gone for another year, but wait let me tell you…

My 24 hours of Christmas was comical to say the least. Christmas day I spent home alone, remember Mom’s prerogative, enjoying time with my furry friends and once again shoveling Mother Nature’s dandruff. It really was a great time. Then late that evening the phone rings…

A Christmas Wish

Saturday, December 25, 2010

As I sit to write this, I realize most all you will be waking to a holiday. I, on the other hand am waking to another 2” of snow and very thankful I do not have to travel today. Tomorrow, why tomorrow?

Tomorrow will be our Christmas. With all my siblings in the medical industry it is fair to assume someone would pull the holiday, this year two. Mother, as only mothers can do, declared Sunday our day of celebrating. Yeap, she moved Christmas.

This is nothing new. Growing up the child of a fireman, I was fed many a tale as to why Santa either came on Christmas eve or was late. See, story telling is in my blood.

Any who… Sunday I will load Ms. Twister and myself in the car, go pick up granny and head to the hollers. Today I come to offer you a very Merry Christmas.

I hope you are opening the gift you asked for, you are with those who fill you heart with love and that the aroma from the kitchen is driving you crazy. Merry Christmas my beautiful followers!

I’m off to hunt down the elves who left all those tiny elfin beer cans in my yard Smile and Santa needs to pick up after his deer.

Peace….

Do You Have Christmas Memories?

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

Yesterday I read a post by my blogging buddy Flowering Mama. Where she related how thankful she was for her country neighbors and it left an impression. I began to think about Christmas memories. Do you have Christmas memories?

I am not talking about those traditions we all go through year after year but memories. What pops in your head first when you think of Christmas past? Is it a gift, a place, a relative, maybe just a simple sense like the smell of pine?

As I spent the afternoon battling this cold, a pattern emerged. I began to realize my memories were nothing like what I expected. What I was remembering were not gifts or any monetary asset I had been bestowed but rather true Christmas memories.

So, Am I on Your List?

Friday, December 10, 2010

When you look back, tally your naughty or nice score, which is it? Do you expect a lump of coal or that very special gift? Will Santa pay you a visit or will Rudolph turn the light out and head north?

I started thinking, “what do I really want for Christmas?” I started a list, below is what I came up with. Hope I make someone’s shopping list.

Did You Get What You Needed?

Friday, November 26, 2010

The past couples of months have been extremely hard for me. Personal demons, soul aching and then I got a traffic ticket. At one point I could do nothing but laugh until I cried, that did not help. Do you know the song “Can’t always get what you want?”

Yesterday I got what I needed.

Special Award, Music and Then An Award

Thursday, November 11, 2010

I can think of no better tribute to our armed forces past and present than a musical rendition. Yesterday I watched most of the World War II mini-series on the history channel. What a leap from teenager to armed warrior. I bow my head and say thank you, I gladly place my hand on my heart when they play the National Anthem and I never forget what liberties I have because of you.

If you are a veteran or currently serving please except the small award above as my thank you. Now for your music.

For the rest of you normal, non-fighting folks, I have another award.

Last week I received this irresistible award from Ms Yvonne at Welcome to my World of Poetry. If you are not following her, shame on you. Ms Yvonne can take any situation and turn it into poetry. She also is addicted to sliding boards and music, so leave your speakers on. Thank you so much Yvonne. I was just happy to have you back on-line sharing with us.

I pass this award on to:
Flying High In the Sky, she too writes poetry and needs some followers. Go give her a look see and tell her I sent you.
Roland @  Writing in the Crosshairs. What can say if you do not already know Roland. A total master of depth and description, if he were a painter galleries would be fighting over his master pieces. Give him a gander.

That's it for today. The squirrels are mad, I got the leaves raked. My PC is acting like it has the flu so I'm keeping this short.

Peace My Children...
