Bitch-a-tude: Now I Have One

Friday, June 25, 2010

Well, I made it out of the “Funk Attack,” only to be thrown right into a down right outrage. I was so irate last night I could not sleep and awoke to even more anger, now I have developed a “bitch-a-tude.” It is hard to be comical when you have a bitch-a-tude but I have to find humor where I can.

So here is what set off my bitch-a-tude. The republican Senate thinks I’m a lazy, drug addicted, hobo living off of unemployment. Do they know me? Where are they getting this information? Have you guys been spreading rumors?

Elena Kagan: Supreme Court Nominee

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

So the President nominated a woman, Elena Kagan, for the Supreme Court, what’s the big deal? I would think the Dean of Harvard law would be an excellent candidate’ after all she has transformed legal minds into the attorneys we know today. So who is the first person I see questioning her ability? Why of course my ole buddy Mitch McConnell.

Federal Debt Commission: Here's a Cheat Sheet

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

Have you heard? There is a new Presidential appointed commission whose task is to recommend ways to lower the deficit. Though this commission is newly formed I fear it has already gotten of course. I must say it is hard to stay on course when you are allowed to spend the first four hours of the workday viewing porn.

In an individual effort to make up for our commissions lost time each morning I’d like to submit the following list of recommended cost cutting measures. Commissioners feel free to use this as cheat sheet; I will not be offended if you do not mention my name.

Senator McConnell and I Understand the Tea Party Now

Monday, April 12, 2010

Senator Mitch McConnell does respond to emails. He does want to support unemployment benefit extensions, he does appreciate our comments and yes, he will even thank you for them but he will not go much further. I say all this because I received such a letter; I voiced my opinion via email to the Senator and got in return a six-paragraph campaign ad.

Let me digress and explain that I had during the filibuster regarding the extension of unemployment benefits sent emails to Kentucky Senators, Bunning and McConnell. Basically what I sent them electronically was the proverbial southern hissy fit, but let me condense the six paragraphs I received in return.

Nuclear Limitations: Are You Kidding?

Wednesday, April 7, 2010

President Obama’s Nuclear Limitation Policy has drawn criticism from both sides of the fence and after reading the synopsis I can see why. In short it states that should you attack us with any thing other than nuclear weapons we won’t nuke you; we will only use nukes in extreme circumstances but we define extreme and finally we will not further our nuclear aerosol. The United States will keep in place those warheads it has and oh yeah, this only applies to those nations that have signed the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. Do you see a problem yet?

Let us look at this from how the average, common sense using American does. Should you attack us with a biological weapon our first response is not “nuke them!” Our first response would be how could we get the antidote? Which we already know over government does not have a stockpile of, nor do they provide us with education on how to treat, contain and eliminate the spread of such an attack, that information is privileged. Should you attack us with a chemical weapon, all of the above still applies. However.

Reform and Stimulus: Okay that is misleading

Monday, April 5, 2010

There are two words I have heard repeatedly in the last several months that I definitely have a problem with how they are being used. “What are those two words,” I hear you asking. Well, let me tell you; they are the words “Stimulus” and “Reform.” I do not know what lazy person in Washington just picked these words out of the air but they should have at least looked up the definition of the words before they applied them to government programs that neither stimulate nor reform.

When you look at the word stimulus it simply means to stimulate. Following the word path and look up stimulate you will find the definition as to cause a reaction in the body, to motivate or encourage. I can honestly say I think they did use the word correctly; they just did not obtain the results they intended. In fact, most Americans had a reaction in their bodies; oh, it sparked motivation and down right encouraged the nation to respond to the first two parts of the definition.

Hutaree: Lord I’m Not Ready

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

Fanatic social groups have been around for as long as this country has been here but this new one takes the cake. Calling them selves “Hutaree” or god warriors they believe the end of the world is here and that there is a real need to prepare. Doesn’t that seem like an oxymoron to you or is it just I?

If it were the end of the world do we really need to prepare and didn’t we wait a little to long? I guess what I really should be asking is, are we going to truly need AK-47’s in the afterlife? If so I’ve been left behind, I merely own a pump shotgun and I now fear I’ll be out gunned when I get there. Not to mention I have no concept of how to make a homemade bomb; nor would I want to learn. I’m way to accident prone to be playing with the mixing of toxic chemicals. I do however, know how to make a homemade blowtorch. Again, it was an accident I had while visiting a friend. Never smoke around aerosol hair spray can, that’s all I’m saying.

Tea Party Movement: Left or Right?

Monday, March 29, 2010

Tea Parties are they truly looking out for our best interests? What really is the mission of this movement? The platform as I understand it has been to take back our government and return America to the people, to stop government spending and allow our children to have a debt free America. They run on moral values and ethical government, come on, really?

I find it hard to believe that moral, ethical and government can even be used in the same sentence. I look at the two republicans we have elected in our state and see two gentlemen that have done nothing that would allow those words to be tied to their names. Both have benefited vastly from their terms in office and neither have done anything to stimulate our states economy, education or transition into this new millennium. What I have seen is a lot of personal gain and profit with little attention being given to their constituents concerns. No ethics make for bad politicians.

Death Threats on Congress: It’s Just a Playground

Thursday, March 25, 2010

In the midst of all else that is wrong with America right now it seems we have let the kindergarten kids run wild. We have all sorts of negative issues right now; unemployment, homelessness, depression and the elderly still being fleeced to the point they are forced to be Wal-Mart greeters. Now we have Americans threatening Senators and Congressmen. I feel like for the past couple of days I have been watching recess antics for a local kindergarten.

On one side of the playground you have the older kids (the Senators) arguing, name calling and who generally insight chaos among the playground participants. They gather in groups like picking sides for a kickball game; each wanting the strongest players on their side, even threatening to steal their lunch if they do not join their team.

Healthcare Reform: hum?

Sunday, March 21, 2010

Today is the day, it is a sink or shut up vote for the Senate regarding healthcare. I am sure however, the average American has no idea what this vote is truly about, those opposing it have even less of an idea and those actually voting just do not have a clue.

I personally am having a hard time with taking a stand for either side. I agree we do need some form of healthcare reform but I’m not sure the proposed bill touches on what is really wrong with the situation. The amount of Lobbying money that is being spent on either side of this issue, seems to me, would go along way to pay for a good chunk of healthcare.

Senators Delay and Bunning: Frick and Frack Ride Again

Sunday, March 7, 2010

I will start by simply apologizing up front for the politics or maybe I should be apologizing for the lack of politics, I’m really not sure which it is anymore. Either way you look at it what our government is doing and even more what we are saying about what our government is doing should be viewed as an embarrassment not a debate topic.

I just read an article (tom-delay-jim-bunning, Huffinton Post) of Senator Tom Delay stating that Jim Bunning should be applauded and that Americans on unemployment basically are just lazy. I’m not sure which part of this statement offends me more; the fact that one man from Kentucky who individually put 5 million Americans livelihood in jeopardy and someone called him brave for this action or the fact that a Senator can be so out of touch with his union that he thinks 5 million Americans are lazy and are being encouraged to not look for work.

President Obama; Can you spare a moment?

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

Dear President Obama;

I’ll try not to take up to much of your time but I hear you are a politician who cares about the people. Someone who wants all Americans to have equal opportunities and equal benefits. Though I am only one American and I have had to over come many adversities in past year including becoming one of the many unemployed I do need a moment of your time.

I try not to be one who complains to much about how the government does its job but in the past several months I have become totally confused and disenchanted. I’m in need of some Presidential size answers, so if you would be so kind as to follow along I will explain.

Senate Filibuster: Don't Blame It On Kentucky

Friday, February 26, 2010

Today I feel very sad to admit I'm from the good state of Kentucky. For today one of our distinguished elected officials took it upon his own shoulders to filibuster the senate, a filibuster that proceeded to put 5 million Americans livelihood in peril. As if the filibuster was not enough, he then had the audacity to complain his filibuster took so long he missed the UK, South Carolina game. That really says a lot for the state of Kentucky's elected officials priorities.

This filibuster came from an elected official whom is retiring and has no intent of being there to repair any damage he may cause to his state or the nation. This coming from a gentleman whom had a mere 7, count them, 7 floor comments for the entire year of 2009. I do wonder about the same question this senator is pondering; how do we pay for all the aid the US is dishing out? Was this same question not on his mind in 2009 and if so why did he hold his tongue until 2010? If money is an issue then why he is opting to only chime in on this one issue? If money is the issue, then why is he only choosing to filibuster spending for Americans, why not filibuster the money going out of the country?

Disaster Relief

Saturday, January 16, 2010

I will not start by apologizing for another post on Haiti, but that is what it will be. For the past few days I have been trying to follow the disaster in Haiti and just fathom what it truly must be like. The destruction, the horror, the separation from normalcy, the despair from thinking no one cares. Why should this be?

I understand the destruction, not really a lot you can do about this when you live near a fault line, and the horror goes with the destruction. However, separation from normalcy and the despair these people must be feeling could and should of been taken care of within 48 hours.

The argument is that if food and supplies were to be air dropped in it would have caused a riot; well we now have witnessed 2 major disasters where waiting will cause riots. Any time you push people to a point they think it is every man for himself, they will do what is required to survive. Now would you please educate me on why a UN doctor would abandon his patient because of possible riots and literally walk away? If this is the UN, then they might as well join the Red Cross.  Though I have never heard of the Red Cross abandoning any survivor of a disaster.

Haiti and Emotions

Wednesday, January 13, 2010

I wish to blog today about emotions. I started the day with high emotions of the thought of enjoying a lunch with an ex co-worker. Of catching up on where we each had gotten to after being laid off. Our plan was to meet at noon, in a small restaurant; passing the time catching up on the trivial issues we each have at hand. Just being the typical Americans on any given day.

As I sat in my living room waiting for the time to put the girls up, arm the alarm, and venture out for this lunch date; I turned on the news.I began to watch the horrible events unfolding in Haiti. I felt a tinge of emotion at the time but my mind was on the lunch date I was about to embark on. Time passed and I began the routine of leaving the house.
