Blind Faith or Desperate Prayers

Do you have blind faith? No not the religious sort of faith but the daily sort. If you find yourself trying to keep up with this fast paced world, then I fear you DO have blind faith. But is it blind faith or desperate prayers? 

Blind faith is what you have when you perform a certain action and expect the usual result. Desperate prayers are what happen when blind faith does not comply.

Optimism: I'm in Training

Are you an optimist, is your sun always shining? It is a wonderful thing when one can be so positive that even the largest mountain seems climbable, I am not that person. I fear I am an optimistic trainee, a sun seeker in training. I have to ask, did you go through optimism training?

Being optimistic I realize for some is just a fact of birth, for others it is a learned skill and to those I ask, how do you achieve this skill? I try my best but I do not feel I’m honing this skill as efficiently as I could be.

We middle aged women all achieve a condition no one but us can understand, yes menopause. We gather comrades with the condition and take small pleasure in knowing we are not alone. But what if you are not one of these middle aged women, can you recognize the symptoms? Do know what to do?

If you are the significant other to middle aged woman you might recognize these symptoms. You come home only to find the air conditioning and ceiling fans on high, your mate lying in the middle of the floor stark naked; this is not a hint it is a symptom. Politely hand them a cool cloth and walk away.

Multi-Tasking: Oprah Was Right

Multi-tasking is a modern term that we coined only to find out humans cannot do it. Why even Oprah provided us with experts to prove this fact and begged us not to try. Okay I’m a believer; I finally have the proof we humans cannot multi-task. Why am I suddenly a believer, how do I know this to be true?

Yesterday I started the day with a list of tasks I needed to achieve before the weekend and I did want a weekend. My list included grocery shopping, cleaning house, trimming bushes, exercise the dogs and to cook a pleasant dinner. I would learn by the days end that the list was just that, a list.

The Holiday Gods Have Spoken

I told you I do not make plans for Memorial Day and I did not but the Holiday Gods still spoke to me. They still made their appearance and put an end to my one planned event, a canoe trip. No worries I took it all in stride, I came away with some valuable tidbits of knowledge. Know what I learned over the Memorial Day Holiday?

I learned that two five-foot tall women are not tall enough for loading a canoe onto a vehicle. I also became aware canoes do not fit all vehicles, some are not wide enough and some are just too short. That if you insist on loading it into a short vehicle you will end up with what looks like a canoe sail and no, you do not have enough rope for this. Blasted Holiday Gods.

Baby Boomers: Can You Imagine?

We Baby Boomers were born at a rate of 300-plus a minute, another huge feat for the greatest generation. But have you ever thought about what it will be like when this generation gets old? Do you think we will take it lying down?

I am a Baby Boomer and lived through that part of American history that helped shape this country. The shear volume of my generation is what causes my concern and so I tried to imagine what I had to look forward to.  What would be different from what today’s elderly now has as amenities?

Well, grocery stores would have to make deliveries or install aisle lane markings. No way do they have room for all the motorized shopping carts that will be required. But the good news is pizzas, chips and beer will be sold in bulk, we are the “munchies” generation.
