IF..

If I had been prepared this post it would have been up by now, but I did not. If I knew what I was doing my life might have a better rhythm, but I do not. If...
If the world were a nicer place we all might wear a smile, if all things were equal there would be no less fortunate. If ...
To me the most hopeful and yet detrimental word we use. Due to my lack of preparation I offer you a song. My tribute to the word "If," enjoy.
By the way we are expecting strong storms this morning, I'll visit as many of you as I can.
Peace...

If I had arisen earlier, I could have left you a longer comment. ;o) Happy Monday! Hope the sun shines and you're able to hop around today. :o)
If is a great word. What if....is how most of my story ideas are born.
Stay safe in the storms!
Enjoyed your post Jules, IF must be one of the most used words around.
Thanks for your comment.
Yvonne.
You said it, IF only...
Great post, so much emotion attached to one tiny word~ Be safe; I hope you have a great day. Imagine if, it was a gorgeous day...what would you do?
Reminds me also of 'If' by Pink Floyd. I lump 'if' with 'regret', usually sad words for me. Storms everywhere today, be safe and watchful.
Can't believe I didn't think of the word if. So much hinges on it.
Only if is probably one of the saddest things we can say. This of course is different than just if which still has a here and now feel to it whereas only if is past. Past mistakes. I like the word if on its own because it gives us something to work for. If I do .... then ...
Good morning! If only I had mailed out my bills instead of doing bill pay through my bank, I wouldn't have been on hold the last 17 minutes and 12 seconds trying to do a stop payment. Sigh.
Stay safe, it's looking rather murky here.

If is a scary word. It means I think I can or could do something about the situation! :) Stay safe! We had some CRAZY storms here the other night. Hail and thunder and wind, Oh, my! Yup - that kind of storm.
If is a pretty horrid word. The worst word for me is "should". I should have....
How are those storms treating you?Luckily the worst of the lightning/thunder's already passed us, but it sure as hell woke me up this morning!
if, key word....
what if I miss your post, I would not be able to comment and read...
what if the internet is down, ...
insightful take on I.
Preparation or not, your posts are always delightful. Your imagination takes over. Hey, another "I" word.
"If" is the perfect choice! I hope your weather doesn't get too bad. Stay safe. :-)
Catching up on your blog. Great posts thanks. Thanks for the music, and stay safe in the storm.
As my Grand-dad used to say:
If is an obstacle that stands in your way and if it wasn't for if you'd be happy today.
This always makes me smile when I remember it. Hope it makes you smile too.
Hope the storms have passed and all are well.
If is a great word for "I" post! My thoughts are with you- I hope you are safe through the storms Jules!
Hi Jules! I'm stopping in from the Z-A Challenge and I love your blog. Very creative post. Hope the storms are not too severe where you are!
If...what a great word and also an annoying one. We use it to play the what if game. Lyle used it to write a song. Small children use to drive the adults insane. And you used it to describe your life. Great word regardless.

Reminds me of that song by Bread called "If". It was my favorite song to play on my guitar way back in high school. :)

Those "if's" are always tripping me up. The "when I finally"s aren't any better.
Hope you are safe from the storm today and don't have to go out in it. - G
Great post. If, I use this word a lot in my thoughts. LOL =)

Stay safe with the storms.
I'm a fellow A-Z challenger and new follower. :)
You're right--I never thought about what a powerful little word that is!
If....I didn't have to go to work everyday, my novel would be done by now!
Hope you made it through those storms!
The biggest little work in the whole wide world!
I hope you're safe, Jules.
Thanks for stopping by. Your comment was cute. I'll tell you, that was a real situation. It happened to me years ago, with a psychotic female resident. Part two of the story is that staff reported later that the woman had said "I'm gonna kill Doris" :-O
Good thing she no longer recognized me--and I had to transfer her to another facility. :-))

P.S. Have you seen Jules? LOL
Hey, this works! Happy Monday KY friend! :)
Yeah, If only I could win the lottery...If only I hadn't eaten that ice cream!
:)
PS. If only I had time to read more posts and knew why a storm might affect you. Are you on the water? I hope you are safe! :o :D

Don't sell "if" short! "If" creates story ideas...IF I crossed my eyes and they got stuck that way...IF a ghost started writing my blog in my absence...IF aliens landed their space ship in my back yard...I kinda like it, the word "if!"
Excellent choice. If can have so many meanings and you are right that it's both hopeful and detrimental. If can create a story as a writer uses an If statement to spark an idea. Or the If can make a writer feel like giving up entirely. Good post.
Great song to go with a post that sums up so exactly how I feel this week so far. And it's only the beginning. Hope the storms aren't too bad.
'If' is a very powerful word at times now isn't it?! If I had stopped working on the house I'm trying to sell the past few weeks, I would have visited my friends more often and commented more. Sorry... I sure hope you are having a better day and your world is full of Smiles very, very soon!!
Take care, Jules!! XOXO

These spring storms have been brutal. Hope you are doing well.
So many people play the "if" game - if only this would happen, life would be better, I'd be happier, etc etc and it can be a very dangerous game that leads to bitterness and resentment. As a writer, I think I need the "if" - what if this happened or what if a character did this instead of this, etc.
If I had a boat right now, it would probably sink.
That's the kind of day it's been ;0(
If is most dangerous I find when used in combination with 'only'.
Though those two words are sometimes the only thing that can give you hope. At least, me, anyway.
hugs

If. I like your choice for the letter "i." If I was less of a dreamer, maybe more of my dreams would come true. BUT we need dreams they drive us forward...
