I found myself at the base of a mountain.
”Climb it and you will see the sea,” that is what they said.
So I climbed the mountain just to see the sea.
The mountain became angry.
You must be chosen to see the sea
”The sea, the sea, I want to see the sea,”
The mountain it obliged, laughed real hard…
and rolled me down into the sea.
Just a little something to start your weekend. I spent yesterday doing stupid research, yes research. I wanted to know what was going on the year I was born and what did I find?
The first car I ever owed rolled off the production line, the Chevy Impala. Man, that poor car. It was made of real metal, the speedometer went to 120MPH and I know I hit that mark more than once.
Both NASA and the Civil Rights Commission were born, at least one has survived. You do need equality before any, one-eyed green man is going to come for dinner and stay.
Does anyone besides me remember “The Who’s” first stereophonic recording? That became commercial in 1958, funny, all I remember is mom yelling, “Turn it down.
Sorry North Carolina fans but Kentucky won the NCAA that year. Go figure, I love Kentucky basketball.
Then there are some things that I guess just are destined to repeat. Though the average income was a mere $3,500, a new home was only $12,500. A stamp cost four cents and get this, gas was a quarter but…
I was born during the worst recession since WWII and unemployment was at 7%, talk about history repeating its self.
So this is my birthday week, thus the research. I have no plans except to not have plans. I might though, just treat myself to the duck breast I have in the freezer and a few martini’s.
Happy Friday and have a great weekend.
Peace…

Happy Birthday!!! Treat yourself to those martinis. I'll have a pomegranate one in your honor this weekend. :)
You know, $3500 seems to be the average income anyone has anymore considering how expensive everything is anymore.
Happy Birthday! I can't get there so drink my martini (I promise I'll share the headache though)
With the value of the dollar, the average income hasn't changed all that much.
I remember "The Who's" and will not repeat my mom's reaction. Let's just say, I'm a lot like her, Nuff said? :0)
May you have your best year ever!
Happy birthday!
Funny, the price of a home is now twenty times that while the income is about ten times.
Happy birthday Jules ! x
A very Happy Birthday!
oh come on... lets have a few martini's and go for a pedicab ride!!!!!!! wait, I can't ... homeland security is after me. I'll get the phone shoe out ...call you and we'll plan a secret ruckus! Happy, Happy Birthday sweet Lady!
Happy birthday! I love time travel posts. Just like in a book, the little details make it so real.
Happy Birthday! :)
I too remember a lot of that--especially my mom yelling at me to turn it down. I always swore I would let my kids blast their music, and then they went and invented ear buds. Happy, happy birthday Jules!!!
Happy happy birthday! Yes, what year was this? We want to know! :)
Happy Belated Birthday!!! I hope you treated yourself to the duck breast, and also to plenty of martinis! :)

Happy Birthday, Jules! Lots of great things happened the year you were born, especially you!
Things look a lot different around here than the last time I stopped by, you've been busy! And dang, it's been way too long.
Hope you gobble(d) up that duck and consumed just enough alcohol to make you dance and sing.
Happy, happy! that rebel, Olivia

Happy, happy birthday week! I'm glad you're making it a whole week. Not only is that more fun, but it's likely I've missed it. I hope you did/do something great!
My aunt and uncle had a Chevy Impala station wagon. That thing was a big metal tank. It held 4 kids and lots of cousins. The days before mandatory seat belts and car seats.
What a mean mountain.
Happy Birthday, Jules!!! I hope you had a Great day, week and 'duck'! Did you shot the duck?! :-) Just curious because I know you have that 'double barrel' gun. lol
