A Big Short Happy
Monday, July 4, 2011
I do not have a great deal of time here but I did want to get back to a schedule, so a short post, I hope. A very full schedule is what I’ve had since last posting and today is my holiday, I do love me some fireworks.
I am hoping my American friends all have big plans for the fourth and where you are there will be fireworks. Nothing says ”Independence” like colorful explosives.
A big happy Fourth to you all but I have other news…
Saturday I attended a family reunion at a winery. What a treat to learn someone in my family owns a winery; which sure will be a cost saver with Ms. “Wino” Twister.
There is something to be said about having a few glasses of wine before eating, especially at a family reunion. Have a few more and you won’t even care that crazy aunt Shirley made the “what is it” casserole.
Today I plan on attending the local fourth festivities and yes, capping them with a fireworks display. This year I refuse to be the designated driver. Keeping up with drunks is worse than taking a pre-school group to the zoo. We have a service here “231-TAXI,” so I gave them all cards with the number on it.
I have a special shout out to Nutscell at The Writing Nut and Mask at The Blogger Formally Know AS. They both gave me awards I will pass along in the near future, thank you guys.
In the really near future this blog appearance will be changing. Do not be alarmed if one day you visit and all is not the same. I’m warning you now.
And so my fellow Americans, go forth and celebrate. Remember why we are celebrating and now know, 1776. It seems 48% of Americans did not know we achieved our independence in 1776.
Fireworks to all.
Peace….

Have a wonderful Fourth of July yourself. Family reunion sounds great, having a winery in the family too!
Its my first celebration on American soil and yes, I do know what happened in 1776 ;-)
I agree...drinks make a family reunion much more tolerable. ☺
Happy 235th birthday America! You don't look a day over 220. ☺ Really? People didn't know 1776? What a sad, sad statistic. I'm quizzing everyone I see today!
Happy 4th! Enjoy celebrating your Freedom.
Have a great day! :o) Looking forward to seeing you with a blog make-over!
That statistic is alarming and sad.
Sounds like you've been having a great holiday weekend so far. Low-key for me this year. I usually spend every 4th of July week up on Lake Champlain in VT, but we decided to stay home this year and focus on the house.
Enjoy your 4th!
Enjoy your 4th of July celebrations. Lookforward to your new look blog and congrats on those well deserved awards.
Thanks for coming by and the lovely comment.
Yvonne.
Change? Change? Betty does not like change. at least you gave me a heads-up so I can prepare.
Happy Fourth of July to you and yours!
Have a wonderful day and stay safe!
Happy 4th to you, too. Enjoy your time off, your lack of drunk-wrangling responsibility, and some good fireworks. I hope you don't get the rain we're expecting to put a damper on the festivities.
Have a wonderful 4th!
There's nothing like a blog revamp to cheer one up. I recently redid mine and altho it looks a lot the same, I like the changes. Looking forward to your new design!
Loved that line about nothing saying independence like explosives. You said it! Hope you have a great day!!
You should live in my neighborhood. They were putting off pro-type cannonades all night, which was lovely except for the risk of blowing up someone's house. There was some banging of pots and pans as well. Surprised no one thought to get out the 30-06 or the AK47. Mebbe next year.
A reunion at a winery? Sounds fab!
Happy fourth!
Yeah, one of my co-workers couldn't remember the date. How sad!
Enjoy your Fourth, Jules.
Really?!! People don't know about 1776?!! Amazing...
The reunion sounds fun, I hope you get to go back. I can totally relate to the preschool thing, lol.
We're going to a cookout then to see some fireworks. I adore fireworks!
Be safe and have a great time!
Happy Independence Day! :)
I'm looking forward to seeing the new blog appearance.
I heard about similar statistics before--it's amazing (and a bit depressing).
Jules,
I'm glad you endured the family reunion and how awesome is that it was held at a winery!
I'm certain you are heading out to the fireworks soon; it's 8:00...we have ours tomorrow night; what's up with that...it's like have b'day cake after your b'day! Oh well...
actually the most fun i've had at fireworks were last year at the beachl wow~ awesome!
Have a great evening and be safe...
So amazing how people don't know important facts.
Wine is good, except it gives me headaches, so while you enjoy the wine I'll have iced tea if I'm planning on writing. If not, one margarita because two will put me in bed.
Take care.

We had a fantastic firework show and a great time leading up to it with Fried chicken, potato salad, and board games while waiting. I hope your day was wonderful Jules!
A winery? How cool is that!!! I told wifey if I make it big I want to buy a winery off the California coast. She said I'd drink all the profits.
Ooo. Can't wait to see the unveiling of the new look! Hope your 4th fireworks were as pretty as the view from here! The ones they set off in our town are perfectly lined up with the end of our street, looks like you can reach out and touch them and seeing the colors was so amazing. I hope your holiday was perfect.
hugs!

Hope you had a good 4th! Hope too, that the fireworks were great!
I'm betting that you had a wonderful time yesterday and last night!! So glad.. you deserve a lot of FUN my friend!!
Have a Wonderful week, Jules!!!

Coreen XO
P.S. I love it here!! & I finally unpacked my camera and will be posting pics of the deer soon. :-)
glad you are having a good time!!... congratulations on the awards.. very very deserved.... take care :)
Embrace the change, I will. Happy belated 4th.
Our Fourth went very well and the neighbors didn't burn anything down. I swear, on July 4th this neighborhood is like a war zone.
And a family member who owns a winery? What a stroke of good fortune. My son-in-law makes some pretty good home brew, but he's far away in Texas. Guess I have to go to the store to buy my libations. I wonder if Dollar Tree sells wine?

P.S. Your comment on my blog made me laugh SO hard!!! Thanks.
Keeping up with drunks is like herding chihuahuas. It's impossible. :) That taxi service is a great idea and one I wish more communities would adopt.
That's awesome you are related to a vintner. I wish someone in my family had a tequila business. Or at the very least a bar. LOL
Hope you and the family had a wonderful Fourth.
Hope you had a great holiday! I cracked up about the wine before the family reunion, always a good idea. :D
A reunion at a winery sounds awesome though, how fun.
I hope you had a wonderful holiday. It was quiet here with the kids gone, it just isn't the same.
Have a great week!
Hope your fourth was great.
Can't wait to see the new look.
There were fireworks, Jules! But I don't know, I kinda wish I had been at the winery with you. ;)
I hope you had a happy July 4th!
