It's A Blitz; A Blogging Blitz

Monday, October 18, 2010

In an intense, energetic, concentrated attack we blitz you. Actually that is the definition of blitz but that is not the point. I’m here to tell you a story. Where were you in May of 1977?

Well, I was at the drive-in not knowing my baby sister was being born. Back then there were no cell phones or pagers, if you missed it, you missed it. Now I hear you asking, “What was so important you would miss you sisters birth?”

Can You Say: "Road Trip!"

Thursday, October 14, 2010

Hey, I’m not really here. No I’m not and right now I have no idea where I am.  By the time you read this I will be well on my way to a weekend adventure, a long weekend adventure. Fun right? Where am I going?

Before I divulge my mystery destination allow me to digress a bit. I have spent the last two days packing and preparing for this long, over due excursion and you know what? I realize now why I love backpacking.

With backpacking you take only what is required for survival and can fit in your pack. If it has a chord you do not need it. If you asked yourself will i get to…you don’t need it. If you cannot use it, eat it or wear it, leave it at home. Sounds simple… right? On the other hand, you have civilized traveling.

Animal Write Blogfest: A Dog

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

Today I am participating in a blogfest. Our host is Dayana Stockdale at Writing from the Wrogan. The fest wants us to write from an animals POV and below is my entry. Please feel free to pop on over and read the other entrants.

Here on the deck I stand absorbing in what I know to be all mine. I have a strange sensation, someone or something has gotten in. “I know you are there, show yourself,” I demand. My ears, they raise like sonar on a ship and an attentive stillness takes hold of me. With my posture now rigid, I tune in to what I know is there. Who dares enter my domain?

The morning is like night, a fog gently rolls in and wild aromas titillate my senses. There, in the back corner I see movement, slight but it is there. “I see you, show yourself.” I shout, hoping to startle and get the upper hand. “I will chase you down.”

With the speed of a thousand horses I bound, allowing my instinct to take the helm. I think not of pain or glory but of duty and honor, this is my domain. Toward the motion, galloping, I hear myself scream, “Get out, go away or else.” Then I look down, I am there; I am on it.

At the source of motion, my senses went off guard. The brazen intruder offered a passing glance and waddled when it walked, “You are just a little thing, how much harm can you really be?” I questioned of the small intruder. I step closer seeking merely to say hello. I did not see the warning sign; my senses had no clue. “Why are you stomping your feet?” I heard myself ask.

I had moved too close, fear engulfed this small intruder and without me knowing unleashed a sudden attack. The next thing I knew I went blind. It was as if hot wooden matches had been stuck in both my eyes. I heard myself scream in anguish but was sightless do much else. “Retreat,” my mind kept telling me and I grasped for a sense to escape.

Inch by inch I move backward until the distance it felt safe, and then I turned and ran. “Stop and clear your eyes,” my instincts shouted. I lowered my body and rolled my face in the moisture of the fog. “This is liquid fire,” I said and slowing my vision began to restore.

Back on the deck I felt defeated. My eyes still watering from the sudden attack I hang my in head shame. Never before had I been so instantly rendered defenseless, I have let my duty down. With my head hung low and my tail tucked tight, I begged, “Please, just let in.”

Inside I feel rejected, a failure and simply do want a treat. I must be strong and tell the truth, “I did not chase away the intruder.” Just as I thought no praise would be offered and slowly raise my big eyes in a plea for sympathy.

There is no sign of sympathy, in fact they seem quit scared. “Why are you backing away from me?” I ask but all I hear is that funny sound. “Why are they laughing at me?” This does not call for laughter; honestly I let you down.

“What do mean I smell?” “Come here.” “What is a skunk?”

Most certainly, I do not like tomato baths.

Not sure if I captured this the best. Sometimes it is not easy being a dog and fulfilling all your instinctive duties. Thanks to Dayana for hosting and please go visit her blog.

Do You Hear a Rythmic Chant?

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

I long to just become still. To quiet my wandering ways, take time out and merely be. I seek the ability to explore my soul and revel in all that I have been. Forever doomed I wander and the universe calls my name. Move; forever move. Where does stillness really lie?

With the whisper of the universe I shutter but continue on my way. There is no place I truly can call home and no place to be just me. With the dawning of the sun I arrive, watch silently from a far and then with darkness I am gone. Can you tell I was even there?

With the wandering comes solitude, no friend’s can I simply call. I smile at you, I kiss your feet but loneliness is what I see. Never noticing you walk past leaving footprints etched in sorrow. I will cover up your sorrow, erase away the footprints and with the setting of the sun, slip away. Am I not your friend?

I enunciate no words of wisdom but rather call to you with a rhythmic chant. I chant for you to listen, to hear my calming lull. Close your eyes, breath slowly; allow my cadence to answer the questioning of your soul. Can I not be the rhythm of your being?

This description is what I though of  when I saw the picture above. The wave to me reflects the stillness we all long to have. When we are not still it is as though we forgot our way home. Not finding home leaves us with the sorrow of solitude, but if we listen…

Close our eyes, breath slow and hear the rhythmic chant; I feel certain its cadence will calm our questioning souls.

Because if you don't listen...

Today may you actually listen to and hear your very own rhythmic chant.

Peace….

Tag You're IT!

Monday, October 11, 2010

Down for more than a week she longed for her mojo to return. The bed she so loved now felt like an unwelcome stranger, stiff and uninviting. Tired of being in the company of the unwelcome stranger she summoned energy from deep within, “come on get out of bed, don’t you want to find your mojo?”

First sitting, then standing; she rose to leave the company of the stiff, uninviting one. “I’ll get a cup of spice tea and check the web,” she thought. With a head totally clogged, she wondered why someone had not just put the Vicks suave in the Kleenex, that would be so much easier.

Sunday Questionnaire

Sunday, October 10, 2010

Do not just read the snippet in the dashboard preview; come on over and look. I have been telling you and myself I needed to change things up here a bit and now I have. See anything different?

Yes, I have been too sick to write but not to sick to code, go figure. Have you noticed the new layout? Notice my new buttons? I’m really proud of these because I’m no coder.

This being Sunday I’d like to give you my sermon for the day, Flu Shots. If you have not gotten yours, now is the time. I cannot take flu shots due to an egg allergy, and thus have the flu.

One of the scariest books I have ever read was “The Coming Plaques,” and the worst plaque of all is the flu. Adapt and survive little bugger, get a FLU SHOT! Otherwise you will end up like me, wrapped like a mummy with a bright red nose, sounding like a foghorn and consuming bourbon by the gallon. (Medicine you know.)

Now my goal is to for later today to do some writing. In the mean time I wanted to put this post up so you guys would not freak out. I need and want feedback. What do you think? Is this better or worse? Is it easier to find things? Please test drive this thing and tell me, lemon or peach?

Until later my friends… Blessed Sunday to you.
