This Yank

Friday, April 29, 2011

Yes, according to the Brits I am a Yank. I live on this side of the pond, they on that. Separated by generations of revolt, united by the common sense of cause, I still am just a Yank.  So what’s a Yank to do?

My hat is off to my relatives, the Brits but I will not be attending your joyous festivities. I feel more pressing matters are at hand, I feel the timing is just not right, I feel it just not right.

I Want… What Do You Want?

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

What do you want? Is it riches, health or possibly peace of mind? Want is a word we throw around like need. Are we ever sure of what we really want or need?

We all spend our lives wanting things and thinking we truly need them. We listen to that bad devil and then wonder “why did I want…?” This morning I thought about my wanting thoughts and came to this conclusion.

Under

Monday, April 25, 2011

In the past three days I have used this word more often than I would have liked. I had been under this or under that, and it wasn’t until this morning I realized exactly how much underage I had achieved.

When I left you Friday I had no intention of completing the “under” list. It was not even on my radar but it seems great progress has been made. Will you let me toot my own horn and show you what got checked off my “Under” list?

Subpar is Back

Friday, April 22, 2011

Hey, do you remember me? Been awhile hasn’t it? Sorry about that, but it was a needed break. I was stuck in a rut, scalded with emotions and stabbed by my reality which in my opinion was leading to subpar posts.

To you my lovely followers and those passing kind souls I take the “I’m not worthy” pose and say, “Thank you.” All of your comments and kind emails touched my heart in an uplifting, wow sort of way that has snapped me back. But why was I feeling my writing was subpar?

Moments to Memories, Meltdown & MIA

Friday, April 15, 2011

Ever thought about the transformation of a moment? Those fractions of time we spend our lives collecting never really knowing their true worth; a personal library of moments if you will. When and how do we decide what is of value?

Kook

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

Once upon a time there lived a girl, who for the purpose of this story, was simply know as Kook. Kook looked like no other, talked like no other and to her dismay, was claimed by no other; forever just a Kook.

A simple little creature that was totally content to roam the streets of Kleptomania. Clad with plaid knickers over which a kimono she did wear and on her feet were K-Swiss sneakers, on her head a kite. A fashion queen she was not but she loved the audible gasps as people passed her by.

IF..

Monday, April 11, 2011

If I had been prepared this post it would have been up by now, but I did not. If I knew what I was doing my life might have a better rhythm, but I do not.  If...

If the world were a nicer place we all might wear a smile, if all things were equal there would be no less fortunate. If ...

To me the most hopeful and yet detrimental word we use. Due to my lack of preparation I offer you a song. My tribute to the word "If," enjoy.

By the way we are expecting strong storms this morning, I'll visit as many of you as I can.

Peace...

“G” as in… ?

My Dearest Love,

Please explain to me what went wrong? What twisted time warp kept us miles apart, and yet stranded in the same room? What laws did we break that cast you into that darkened cell? Oh the questions my heart does ask, my love. Can I tell you how my pillows are now stained with tears?

Yes, silent, alone tears I have shed for you, in a darkness that hides ones shame. I did not mean to stand distant, I did not mean to build this wall and I never meant to turn my back on you. Oh please my love, say there is still a chance for us.

E is for Egg

Wednesday, April 6, 2011

Haven’t we all heard or referenced the question, “which came first, the chicken or the egg?” I personally believe it was the chicken but let me explain. I’m taking a different approach to the question, evolution.

Every living thing we know today has evolved in some fashion. Adapt and survive is our world in general. My assumption is the chicken came first, because there is no proof to assume otherwise, and here is what I think evolved.

C = Cooties

Monday, April 4, 2011

Yes, you read the title right, I need to know. What happen to Cooties? Did you not know someone when you were young that had “Cooties?” I knew lots of children with Cooties and yet, now I hear of none. What happen to cooties?

Do you remember cooties? Throughout childhood there was always at least one child that had this affliction and you steered clear. Not a bullying tactic as much as you did not want to catch cooties. The affliction did not last long and always got transferred to another child. So, did these children get, “HEALED?”

“B” as in, Bluegrass State

Saturday, April 2, 2011

Most people think of Kentucky as the Bluegrass State, why? Every visitor I have housed asks the same question, “Where is the ‘Blue’ grass?” After picking myself up from the double over laughter, I respond, “So you fell for it?!”

Our grass is not blue, honestly have you ever seen “blue” grass anywhere? We have green grass just like every other place on this planet and honestly I do think it is a tourist trap. Why do I think this?

“A” as in Ammunition

Friday, April 1, 2011

Welcome to the month long blog fest of the A-Z challenge. For how this works and to find others participating visit Tossin it Out and ask for Lee.

For my first day and the letter “A” I have chosen Ammunition. I’m not talking bullets here. I’m talking a Kentucky woman's version of ammunition. Know what I mean?
