Hit Or Miss

Saturday, July 9, 2011

So much for adhering to a schedule, life just did not want to be scheduled. I did however, have the best intentions but then there is a saying about that. Being a good blogger was just not in the cards with it being a short week.

I did think about blogging and as I was racking my brain on how to make a window water tight in a 1 foot thick wall I really missed it! Throughout the week numerous things crossed my mind as post worthy. Rather than save them, here is what crossed my mind this week.

48-hour Cram: In case you have forgotten this is what a job does to you. In 48 hours you cram as many “did not get done during the week” items as you can because come Monday you start the 120 hour grind all over.

Just a paragraph of an idea:
She stands up on the hill, has for as long as I can remember. Her arms always reaching upward and with gentle motions, they bend in the wind. I am never sure if she notices my passing and I wonder does she hold any memories of those days when I did visit. What a faithful old tree she is.

Entitlements: Something we have a legal right to but someone else controls; as in “Social Security.” So this means by definition the Congress and Senate are entitlements. Anyone else want to cut entitlements?

NASA: The last shuttle lifted off yesterday and two things crossed my mind. One: dang I’m getting old. I remember in school when they use to wheel in the Volkswagen size televisions for us to watch the lift off. Two: I guess the term, “It isn’t rocket science,” is now  passé, they're unemployed like the rest of us.

Parenting: Do we really need to be having children when we have to be reminded with public service announcements not to leave them in cars? Isn’t that sort of “The pot calling the kettle black?” I mean as a parent most won’t allow their children a pet because they won’t take care of it and the difference is…?

See I told you I thought about blogging. This hit or miss posting and commenting should calm down in a week or two. Soon I will be back to stalking your blogs and leaving graffiti smiley faces where I have been.

Until then, put on your pudding faces and scare everyone.
A Pudding Face

Peace…

A great post Jules, hope you're well.
As I go through my day I try to think what to write a poem about, should it be that only one hall light works out of four, that the janitor don't do a thing about it.
Whether the fact I sent my grandson a birthday card and I heard via my daughter that my son tore his own son's card into bits.
I guess life some times seems strange but we are alive and relatively healthy,
Have a wonderful week-end.
Yvonne.

You mean you let real life interfere with blogging. Get your priorities straight woman! Whenever you eat, sleep, or go to the bathroom you should feel guilt that you are not blogging instead.

Some great blog ideas though.

The pudding face makes me think of how I always try to portray that I know something even if I don't. It keeps everyone on the edge. HA!

Hang in there, me friend.

Love this post :-)

That "pudding face" commercial is the worst. Creeps me out. Even the term "pudding face" is just gross.

I'm all for cutting entitlements! And the "I'm getting old" crossed my mind as well yesterday. Crap.

I know one thing - if I were an astronaut, I'd be rather unwilling to head to the space station in future knowing that the US now has no way to get me back down from there. (As I sit here drinking my delicious Tang, inspired by the space program.)

You may not have been posting but you sure have been thinking.

I watched the show last night about the final space mission. Very sad to me. I can remember exactly what I was doing when they walked on the moon and when the space ship exploded...but I can remember where I left my glasses.

There's a poster hanging in the room next to mine (my brother's), that says, If I were organized, I'd be dangerous.

So, it's quite all right :D You'll do just fine.

On Jeopardy, this post would be called Potpourri. Re the parenting paragraph, it's pretty amazing that absolutely anyone is permitted to procreate. With all the micromanaging laws that are being passed these days, I'm surprised they haven't dealt with that issue yet!

A lot of deep thoughts this week.

I wish people thought of healthcare as an entitlement like people do with social security.

Strange that we won't have space flights anymore. But our energies seem to be pulled elsewhere for now.

Glad you're blogging again. Sometimes we need a little break. I'm having a hard time keeping up these days because I've been trying to get some writing done.

I'm sad to hear the space shuttle program is ending. But maybe spaceflight will take on a new direction . . .

I've never actually seen the pudding face before. I think I'd terrify the entire neighborhood if I tried one.

I hope you had a peaceful weekend. :)

I hope you had a great weekend, and were able to get some R&R.

This is a fantastic post, I totally love the "paragraph of an idea." Beautifully written!

I felt old about the space shuttle program ending too, yikes.

Have a good week ahead.

I have to say I have no idea how to make a window watertight in a wall of any thickness, nor how the design would differ... it's a good thing I don't design homes!

Temp work must be like starting a new job every day.

Isn't it crazy how your mind wanders through ideas for posts that never get written. My ideas seem brilliant at the time but never get written so I suspect they have a fatal flaw.
Take care

OH my goosh, that 'pudding face' is Scary!!!

I saw that cartoon once a long time ago and still Love it!!! So fitting and I may be feeling that way very soon when the flooded business finally get some help and start 'flooding' into our office to get help filling out all the 'government' paperwork. Oh my!!

Oh and I have always thought the same thing, esp. when I worked for a social service non-profit for high risk children. Really.. the hospital let you (mom and/or dad) take a baby home??!! Really???!!

Great post! Have a wonderful week, Jules!!!

You know, sometimes hit or miss just has to happen. Its not always a bad thing! For instance, it prompted you to share these thoughts, which, by the way, made me chuckle. And I did need to do that, so you helped me a bunch.

Hang in there, take it easy, and have a great week!
