A Big Short Happy

Monday, July 4, 2011

I do not have a great deal of time here but I did want to get back to a schedule, so a short post, I hope. A very full schedule is what I’ve had since last posting and today is my holiday, I do love me some fireworks.

I am hoping my American friends all have big plans for the fourth and where you are there will be fireworks. Nothing says ”Independence” like colorful explosives.
A big happy Fourth to you all but I have other news…

Saturday I attended a family reunion at a winery. What a treat to learn someone in my family owns a winery; which sure will be a cost saver with Ms. “Wino” Twister.

There is something to be said about having a few glasses of wine before eating, especially at a family reunion. Have a few more and you won’t even care that crazy aunt Shirley made the “what is it” casserole.

Today I plan on attending the local fourth festivities and yes, capping them with a fireworks display. This year I refuse to be the designated driver. Keeping up with drunks is worse than taking a pre-school group to the zoo. We have a service here “231-TAXI,” so I gave them all cards with the number on it.

I have a special shout out to Nutscell at The Writing Nut and Mask at The Blogger Formally Know AS. They both gave me awards I will pass along in the near future, thank you guys.

In the really near future this blog appearance will be changing. Do not be alarmed if one day you visit and all is not the same. I’m warning you now.

And so my fellow Americans, go forth and celebrate. Remember why we are celebrating and now know, 1776. It seems 48% of Americans did not know we achieved our independence in 1776.

Fireworks to all.

Peace….

I agree...drinks make a family reunion much more tolerable. ☺

Happy 235th birthday America! You don't look a day over 220. ☺ Really? People didn't know 1776? What a sad, sad statistic. I'm quizzing everyone I see today!

Happy 4th! Enjoy celebrating your Freedom.

That statistic is alarming and sad.

Sounds like you've been having a great holiday weekend so far. Low-key for me this year. I usually spend every 4th of July week up on Lake Champlain in VT, but we decided to stay home this year and focus on the house.

Enjoy your 4th!

Happy 4th to you, too. Enjoy your time off, your lack of drunk-wrangling responsibility, and some good fireworks. I hope you don't get the rain we're expecting to put a damper on the festivities.

You should live in my neighborhood. They were putting off pro-type cannonades all night, which was lovely except for the risk of blowing up someone's house. There was some banging of pots and pans as well. Surprised no one thought to get out the 30-06 or the AK47. Mebbe next year.

So amazing how people don't know important facts.

Wine is good, except it gives me headaches, so while you enjoy the wine I'll have iced tea if I'm planning on writing. If not, one margarita because two will put me in bed.

Take care.

A winery? How cool is that!!! I told wifey if I make it big I want to buy a winery off the California coast. She said I'd drink all the profits.

Ooo. Can't wait to see the unveiling of the new look! Hope your 4th fireworks were as pretty as the view from here! The ones they set off in our town are perfectly lined up with the end of our street, looks like you can reach out and touch them and seeing the colors was so amazing. I hope your holiday was perfect.

Our Fourth went very well and the neighbors didn't burn anything down. I swear, on July 4th this neighborhood is like a war zone.

And a family member who owns a winery? What a stroke of good fortune. My son-in-law makes some pretty good home brew, but he's far away in Texas. Guess I have to go to the store to buy my libations. I wonder if Dollar Tree sells wine?

Keeping up with drunks is like herding chihuahuas. It's impossible. :) That taxi service is a great idea and one I wish more communities would adopt.

That's awesome you are related to a vintner. I wish someone in my family had a tequila business. Or at the very least a bar. LOL

Hope you and the family had a wonderful Fourth.
