Define Life? Or What Reminds You.

Tuesday, June 28, 2011

“Out of sync and out of time,” is my next bumper sticker. I now realize this defines me at the present, been too long and I’m out of practice with a real life. But then what is a real life? What defines that definition of life?

After completing my first week strapped to a PC solving roof connecting to walls and does that wall look right to you, my life went on hold.  I forgot what defined me as a living person. Thankfully, I have people around me who knew I needed reminding.

My resident ghost was the first to thump my head. I guess he felt since I was in the basement the refrigerator was fair game. He helped himself to an entire Sunday dinner; roast, frozen peas, etc… Do I have the only ghost whom steals food?

The dogs of course had to chime in as well. My shepherds have decided, “Oh yes, we can fit in that 2’x2’ space under your desk, move your feet.”  No wonder my knees are hurting.

Ms. Twister has a break in traveling, the timing couldn’t have been better.  Finish work and am faced with, “What’s for dinner?” Not really, she is pretty good about eating whatever, “How about cottage cheese and hotdogs?”

The aliens that use to visit have abandoned me. Remember the ones who use to leave all that moon dust in my living room? Apparently if you have no time to clean their mess up they vacate the premises. Are they at your place?

Lastly, and the best reminder of all, is my grandmother. Last week we were discussing working and what I really had to look forward to as I got older. Her being 92 I figure she does know a thing or two. Know what she told me?

”Bible bumps,” you heard me, bible bumps. It seems as we age we get these bible bumps that even the best cosmetics cannot cover up. They are ugly, large and eventually will be all over you. I know, I asked the same thing, “What are bible bumps?”

“When you get older you get these brown spots all over like those people with bible bumps.” At her age the mind has dulled a bit and in trying to remember the word leprosy it came out bible bumps.

That was a life defining moment, a laugh shared. Regardless of what stress surrounds and tugs at you, trying to pull you down, there will be a moment to define the goodness. Smile, laugh and share it, my definition of life.

Now, off to strap myself in to the big monitor and rocket to buildable models. I’ll be around, but be patient; it takes a while to unstrap myself.

Peace…

50% of the time, life stinks, but it's all we've got right now.

I'm feeling grumpy this morning. Water line is leaking under a bathroom sink.

What is it about large dogs cramming into small spaces? Ours used to try and jam himself behind the couch.
I find that dust miraculously disappears when I close the living room drapes.
Glad your sense of humour is intact:)

It's okay Jules, may you handle things well :)

Ghosts and aliens? Perfect.

I am not so lucky, I just have the grudge trolls who mess up my house when I'm not looking.

Bible bumps are much better than horns, I would think.

Have a great one.

Jules,
I thought age spots were bad enough but now I have to contend with Bible Bumps? I think I will choose not to participate in that one!
Hurricane thinks he can also fit under the computer desk in the little space for me feet; really? You, not you personally; but Hurricane is a 75 lbs dog and he thinks he can fit there?

Anyway, life is what life is...no better, no worse; it is all the things that make up our days!

Oh and how I LOVE your grandmother and her word 'bible bumps' is some much better!! I'm using that one for sure. :-)

So my melt down on Sunday, after 4 days of moving and 2 days with my very negative 'relative' was from 'stress'?? I thought so, but they just got pissed and left. Should have had that sooner ;-)....

Have a Great day strapped to your Rocket. Remember to eat and 'breath' deeply when you feel the stress.

Love ya, Jules & Take Care!

When you said, "bible bumps," it stirred another bible phrase my aunt used. Years ago, I told her I had a ganglion cyst on my wrist. She said hit it with a bible. That's what they would do. But any big book would do, I guess. I love all you housemates.

Those bible bumps are monstrous indeed. I use a product from Avon that works great.

Ghost and aliens go bye bye whenever I tell them to, "get lost." I guess my bark is bigger than my bite.

I suspect your dogs have learned how to open the refrigerator door. Starving puppies are clever.

I hope I brought you some smiles. Good luck with your job.
