Under

Monday, April 25, 2011

In the past three days I have used this word more often than I would have liked. I had been under this or under that, and it wasn’t until this morning I realized exactly how much underage I had achieved.

When I left you Friday I had no intention of completing the “under” list. It was not even on my radar but it seems great progress has been made. Will you let me toot my own horn and show you what got checked off my “Under” list?

“Underage” list checked items:

Under pressure: Single living had come to an end. Cleaning was in order before Ms. Twister returned with her “Big” bag. (I call it a trunk)

Under fed: All the cleaning made me hungry, time to eat.

Under a watch: Yes, a tornado watch and once more the Close Encounter theme.

Under a Warning: A tornado had been spotted on the outskirts of town.

Under advisement: “Granny, you need to go downstairs early, there is a tornado coming.” “Well, I’ll take that under advisement.”

Under Ground: To the dirty, cobweb filled basement.

Under the Stairs: With 187 pounds of canine. This is where I fell in love with the new smarter-than-I cell phone. Television was out but now I could get radar on my phone.

Under estimated: The power of prayer. The tornado hit to the west and east of us but lifted and passed us by. Thank you Lord.

Under cover: Way too much excitement and I went to bed.

Now repeat from watch to cover several more times and you have my weekend. There has been so much rain; rocks are floating in my yard. Not to mention the cute life jackets I saw the squirrels donning. Where do squirrels shop?

Peace…

PS I want to acknowledge all the beautiful compliments left Friday. Thank you again my lovely peeps, you sure know how to send sunshine when it is needed. And for one special follower…

Jubes out!

Thought about you all weekend. Things were flying here that don't have wings but ours was the after effects of yours.

Glad you kept your sense of humor, Booger :0)

My Jules, you've been Under and awful lot of pressure! So glad you are safe and sound. Know that you are most definitely not Under appreciated, my blogging friend. There's always much to enjoy here at the Rainbow. ;)

All I have been writing about for weeks is all the water we have, all the flooding. But wow, when I read your blog (first timer here) I realized a little water is nothing to worry about. So glad you got through the tornado safely.

Good luck and we will keep a watch for you out here on the eastern edge of the west coast.

I kept thinking she is going to toss in the underwear, lol! Great use of under... Glad you and yours are doing well! Scary, I so hate some of those under words. Under a warning...not fun! Under the house with furry spiders...not good, either!

Okay Jules, it is my lunchtime and I am sitting in my room eating lunch and I read your blog. I have thought of you a great deal over the weekend; wanted to give you space so I refrained from the long e-mail :) and dozens of questions.
I hope you are out from "UNDER' the pressures and stress...

So glad you're safe and things are looking up from under the gloom.

Once, when I was a child, my parents and I and my siblings were on a trip. I have no idea where, too young. But I remember my mother saying, "Mel, that's a tornado." The entire car got quiet. A few minuets went by while I peered out my window trying to see the tornado. My mother turned to us and said. "Your father has just entered the eye of the tornado."

All quiet. I looked everywhere but never did see an eye. LOL

So glad the tornadoes missed you, too! Since I am in St. Louis where our airport pretty much took off and flew away, I...(are you ready for this?)...UNDERstand!!! (Sorry.)

Commiserating here. I HATE my basement, and honestly weigh, each time, the risk of death vs the spiders. I generally stay upstairs. Stupid, but that's a phobia for you. You must be worn out from all of the stress too...hope you will take it easy this coming week! x

Anonymoussaid,

I've spent more time than I'd like under tornado watches and warnings lately too. Thankful that you are okay (and we are too!). Readying here for the next round of storms in a few hours!

So your squirrels are wearing them too? Go figure. It has been a soggy month here in KY. Better than the drought, but perhaps a bit of a balance is in order. Glad you are safe! :)

That's great that you're safe!

So much flooding. So many disasters lately. And still the ran falls in the Midwest.

What an awesome list of "unders" to have survived. Astounding!
