Help Me Wish Her a Happy Birthday

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

She wanted a boy but did not get one.
What she received was a ball playing, gun toting tomboy.
She wanted to dress her little girl in lace and ruffles.
What she had was a dirt magnet that used the lace and ruffles as a teething ring.
She wanted a child who obeyed her every wish.
What she received was a child who locked her in the attic.
She wanted to teach lessons, like not spilling things in the car.
What they learned was humor, she being the first to dump a drink in her lap.
She wanted her children to know she would fight for any of their injustices.
What they learned, “Don’t tell or she will come to school and scare the principal, again.”
She wanted her children to participate in any activity they choose.
What she received was countless hours in the emergency room.
She wanted to teach her children not to run and fight over seat position in the car.
It was not her but the drunk in the back seat they sat on which taught this lesson.
She wanted her children to know all of god’s creatures are of value and that you should never give up on them.
Her example, converting a normal child bearing cow into an ice cube firing machine gun.

Today is my mother’s birthday. This compassionate, caring, story writing, person you have come to know is all due to her. My mother taught many lessons about life but the two I know the best?

Humor is in everything, find it and you can conquer anything. Love trumps all; know it, spread it, experience it and you will always have it.

Please join me in wishing her the best and brightest day possible. Happy Birthday Mom!

Peace…

This so reminds me of myself, I had two sons then got pregnant again wanting a girl, I got my wish but she was a tomboy until she reached her teens. My son has tow boys then had a girl and history has repeated itself she too is a tomboy. But I love them all the same just as your mom lovea you.

I believe in something, someone said, "Funny is an attitude!", the optimum amount we have, the better it is. :)

Happy Birthday Jules Mom! And humor is a necessity of life. So is forgiveness. Couldn't imagine going through life without either.
