Is The Sky Falling?

2003 Kentucky Ice Storm
I have sat down several times to write a post with no luck. My schedule has already given way to, “The sky is falling.” Many factors have led to the non-post on Monday and difficulty Tuesday. Is the sky falling?

Yesterday was taken up by 3 simple little distractions; snow, phone and puke. Not entirely in that order. The southern snow storm played havoc with Ms. Twisters travel plans, in fact she ended up driving to her destination. Thank heavens it was a mere 5 hour, snow-free trip.

The phone has been ringing ever since I declared to write more seriously. Sometimes I hate the thing. Not truly wanting to answer the blaring declaration of, “Come here, pick me up, someone thinks you want to hear their dribble,” and I’m afraid not too answer.

The puke. Well, furry friend #2 decided to eat something that totally did not stay down. Trying to get dressed yesterday to take Ms. Twister to the rental car pick-up I was constantly running to get paper towels. Poor thing, she thought she was in trouble. “No trouble sweetie; I’ll take care of it, oh no you don’t, stay on the linoleum.” #2 is all better today.

Today I awoke with a bout of vertigo and the computer screen was not my friend. I am having trouble keeping my balance while shifting my eyes.

I was bestowed 2 lovely awards this past week. One by Ms. Yvonne over at Welcome to My World of Poetry and the other by The Blogger Formerly Known as… a huge thank you to both bloggers. I will pass these on soon.

To my blogging friends in Aussie land, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Stay high and stay safe. To my southern friends, I have sympathy and yes, I do know what you are going through. Here is a picture to prove it.

February, 2003. What we saw the next morning out our basement door.

Until my vertigo subsides, I have to ask; “Is the sky falling?” My sky is at least in need of some dandruff shampoo.

Peace…

Ohhhh, but I feel for you. We returned to Virginia from holiday in Louisiana via Jackson and Gatlinburg where we encountered the tip of what is wrecking havoc. You've been really hard hit in Ky. Stay warm and inside!

I also have bouts of vertigo. Think it's inherited from my grandmother. If I get the least bit dehydrated the vertigo is really bad. Know what you mean about the screen...nothing to do but wait it out. Good luck!

Happy your kitties are okay.

I say disconnect the phone for an hour while you have some "you" time. Write, read, relax, have a cup of hot chocolate. I'm sorry #2 wasn't feeling well. Sounds like you have had a crazy few days. i do hope they turn around for you. The sky falling! I sure hope not. The snow on the other hand is. Get some rest my friend I'll send fairies flutters to ease the process...**(**)**

Hope the rest of the week goes better! And ignore the phone - that's what answering machines are for. If it's important, they will leave a message, and if YOU think it's important, you will call them back. Simple!

Distractions are so distracting. You are allowed time without distractions; so give yourself permission to do what you love--write.

Hope your vertigo soon passes, it's not a pleasant condition.
I went for some pysio for my leg yeaterday , seem I have a squashed muscle in my back (close to where I had an op. back in 1989 and some stiff muscles in my leg, woke up this morning and the pain was worse. I think the cure is a go on the slide.

Take care.
Yvonne.

Kitty Boss thinks she's in trouble too, if she gets sick. Thankfully, she's pretty much stopped eating the shiny stuff. Roo, however....

I hope your vertigo goes away. My left ear causes lots of dizziness for me. Yuck.

Be safe and keep warm!

Jules,
I certainly hope the vertigo gets better fast...I've never experienced such a thing so I can't imagine but I DO NOT think I'd like it!
Poor baby puking but why can't animals have the sens of going on the linoleum or the hardwood rather than insist on the carpet? One of the mysteries of life!
Take good care and thanks for the thoughts for your 'sourthern' friends...we had a snowday today and a 2-hour delay tomorrow so we'll see. Looks like we'll be going to school on SAt. :) YEEHAW!

Snow, puke and vertigo just don't go together at all well. But at least you weren't puking in the snow due to vertigo. Just a thought. Hope you all got some rest.

Thanks for your thoughts for those of us in Australia. Yeah, we are doing it tough. Brisbane is currently flooding and it is scary to watch. But thank god we are safe, high and dry. :)

I love that expression 'the sky is falling' because there are those days... and weeks...Hope things come together for you very soon. I don't answer the phone when I write. But what really bugs me is when my family does and then says, THE PHONE'S FOR YOU!!! Like I'm supposed to drop everything mid sentence to answer the stupid phone that THEY answered? Clearly, the phone is a sore point with me as well.

Oof, it never rains, but it pours! I hope you feel much better ASAP and I absolutely agree with the calls for an answering machine. Let them leave a message, and you can call back according to your priorities. No need to be at everybody's beck and call!

Anonymoussaid,

Get better real soon! Kids have been sick here and throwing up and all. Why do they run past the bucket I place by their bed, race to the bathroom, only to make it half way and then unleash on the carpet? Doesn't make sense. "There's a bucket next to your bed. Use it!" Sigh. Anyway, I'm always there for the kids and clean up after them. Actually, I let the dog do it. Get well soon.
