How Random Can One Morning Be?

Tuesday, November 30, 2010

The randomness of Tuesday. A thought process, a method to the means, if you will, of which a daily plan is born. For me in two hours it has become the randomness of a rainy day. Can you pickle a brain?

Random thought #1: A comment from yesterday’s outing still lingering heavy on my mind. “One person cannot make a difference.” “Since when?” my brain responded. The comment was from a youth in our fair country who believes this. “Sad,” I thought. Guess they did not catch CCN’s hero episode. Where these not all one person who choose to make a difference?

Random thought #2: My grandmother voicing, “this world sure moves fast now, does it not?” To her no one appreciates what they have anymore. Always wanting more, never noticing as they whiz by, what truly they hold. Growing up during the first depression she knows of such things and her favorite things are her photo albums.

Random thought #3: Questions. Wouldn’t it be nice to never hear of another missing child? Why do we need to be reminded to respect military service people? Why no matter where we are in the world do feel the same emotions and yet we continue to believe they are not the same? Why does goodness never make the news?

Random thought #4: I need a hair-cut and what am I going to wear to the basketball game? Has to be blue.

Random thought #5: In this technological world, why do they not just ask if your claiming the rebate on-line? I have 2 trees lying on my coffee table, both hold useless information needed to claim my rebates on-line.

Random thought #6: My dogs are talking to me I know this by their expressions and yet all I get a response to is the word “Out.” Lots of tail wagging and jumping towards the door, only to be followed by heads hung low and stillness. They realized I’m not going out in the pouring rain.

Random thought #7: My story is in my head. There it lies totally complete. Jump out I command you.

Random thought #8: Yesterday I received not one, but three phone calls from good friends; just checking in because they had not heard from me. Friends are the real jewels in life. Cost nothing and bring so much to the journey. I am blessed. My week just got busy, two demand a visit.

Random thought #9: I have to fix that sticky toilet. Dang thing is costing me money. Speaking of money, I need to find health insurance. Cobra runs out in a month.

Random thought #10: I will not lose faith, there is a place for me; a purpose. We all have one, mine is just lost in the pickling brine of my brain right now.

I Close my randomness of this Tuesday with a statement. Congratulations to all who participated in NaNo, winning is not everything though. Sometimes it’s just about playing the game.

To all my followers and those passing by, I have very big shoulders. Feel free to lean on them all you need. One person can make a difference, you are the difference, wave that freak flag and smile.

A peaceful random Tuesday to you…

Jules,
I like Grandma's way of thinking..no peaple don't appreciate what they have anymore; sad!
I like the presentation of these random thoughts especially "Congratulations to all who participated in NaNo, winning is not everything though. Sometimes it’s just about playing the game." especially since I didn't finish (see post).
Anyway, take care of yourself and thanks for sharing your thoughts...mine fall along those same lines; no missing children, respect for the military and finally, I'm boycotting the nightly news until they begin talking about the good in the world!

Love your randomness!!! I would suggest leaving a Twinkie on the desk and tell the story that it's there. It might just work!

One person can make a difference! I love your random thoughts. They're more detailed than my most thoughtful thoughts.

Have a great day.

Jules,
My Life as a Dog is a compilation of short excerpts, stories about our golden's life from his point of view. If you go to my blog and read some of the earlier posts, there are some 'raw' tales.
It's fun, light-hearted and endearing! I received a contract and so finishing it up...but not sure how i want to end it...any ideas?

Grandma is right -- have too much, move to fast and hold little dear that's how we go today. So Sad.
Have a great one.

I enjoyed reading your thoughts. :)

It is sad that goodness never makes the news . . . it deserves to be up there along with all the other information, if not more.

I do believe people have to be reminded because we all tend to live in the moment and everything else slips away.

There are many examples of one person making a difference. Sometimes people think they have to do something big. I say, speak kindly to a child and they will in turn do the same.

Wow, Jules, your random thoughts are so profound and DEEP!! I totally agree with your Grandmother and all of your 'deep' random thoughts! Really moved me and got me to thinking tonight about what's 'really' important in life! Thank you, Jules, I've been so crazy busy lately and really needed to visit you tonight! :-)

Each year I have a class to teach, I talk about Gandhi, MLK, and Mandela. Gandhi use the principal of Ahimsa to overthrow colonialism in India. MLK was inspired by Gandhi. Mandela was inspired by MLK. Then I ask the students which injustice will be tackled next. And could they lead the way?

Well, that was pretty random, but I guess that's how the mind usually works.

Making a difference? I think about the Butterfly Effect theory. Even by thinking you can't make a difference and not doing anything you are making a difference, albeit a negative one. Every little thing adds to the mix.

NaNo? -- I think winning is very important if you start it. After all it's not a contest, but it's a personal challenge. If I start, I want to finish. There are too many things in my life that I've started and never finished.

What a beautiful post!

I'm with your grandmother on the pictures. Ever since Katrina, that's what I value the most. In fact, I started the scanning craze in my family. I started scanning pictures so that I could have them online, in the event of another hurricane. My Dad took over the scanning and had stacks and stacks of photo albums all over the front room (something that drove my Mom a little nutty for a while Lol) But worth it in the end - at least... it gives some sense of security with precious memories.

And yes... friends are such blessings, both IRL and online. Thank you for being a friend :) You're a blessing!
