Wednesday's World Solution: Come on Hear Me Out

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

Yesterday I know, I went on a tangent about those lovely FEI games and my community. Which at your request, will do my best to get some good photos of the chaos I chose to attend. A friend of mine is performing one night so I know that night for sure, which brings me to today’s topic. Got a clue yet?

Today I have a solution to all the worlds’ ills. Yes, I have don’t you laugh! I have thought about this for a long time and am now confident it will work. Can you guess at what that might be? Ever thought about what would cross any country, gender, race, or even language barriers? I have, know what I figured out?

Regardless of preference, regardless of age, regardless of any preconceived barrier there is a resolution. It lies within us all; a note, a chord, a tune, just a simple beat forming a melody. Yes, Music. Before you write this off, think about it.

Imagine, if you will, our fair leaders all in room arguing and jockeying for position to get their leg up. Screaming why they are right, the other guy is wrong and all the while making promises they can no way keep. Suddenly without warning…..

Little Richards ”Good Golly Miss Molly,” blasts over the bureaucratic nightmare. That causes a hush of wonder to fill the room. Security cannot find the source so the song continues. Then just as the song comes to an end but before the silence can be broken…

Wilson Pickett’s ”Mustang Sally,” kicks in. One by one you see the blank stares turn to patting feet and snapping fingers. Again, security is no help, they sort of like the song. Allowed to finish and smiles starting to appear, no silence is allowed to enter…

The Beatles ”Twist and Shout,” fills the void. I just saw the Japanese representative wiggle, you go boy. Not paying attention and as the song ends he is way off beat for what is to follow…

Garth Brooks ”I got friends in low places,” they all start to get the point and the gentleman from Texas breaks into song. Security is not far behind and a choir is now assembling. Shoulder to shoulder, swaying with the beat. “Okay, who was flat?” someone asks but there is no time to respond…

Elvis Presley’s “Hound Dog,” starts to play. Oh my heavens, they aren’t just singing they are doing some weird Elvis wiggle impersonation! Stop, stop, you guys are having to much fun, someone is going to get hurt. But since you seem to want to dance….

The Village People’s “YMCA” closes the set. I don’t care how old you are, you know how to form the letters and follow along. Are you starting to picture this? Imagine the G8 attendees doing the YMCA dance.

Now I have to ask, don’t you agree that it would be hard to ignore a person you just shared a musical moment with? Would not it be hard to be egotistical, when you both knew neither of you can dance? Sort of equals things out, doesn’t it?

Yes, I think if music was played at the beginning of all confrontations there would be no confrontations. I know our leaders could sure use a little Karaoke in their day.

How about you? Got a song you’d like to see our leaders move to? Do you have a song that could heal the world? Well, tell me about it.

Here is to your day’s confrontations being blasted away with a tune.

actually they are doing studies in psychology, or atleast last I heard about music in classrooms helping students, s why not at the white house. lol I think they would have burst laughing at the first sound of the song though because well...face it If you were already riled up- laughter comes when something odd happens in the heat of the moment.

Not a bad idea. I think Daydream by the Lovin' Spoonful would be a good addition.

Oh yeas, I love this idea.
No suggestion unfortunately as I mostly listen to classic music. There is however a very soothing peice:
Adagio from Concierto de Aranjuez.
BTW:
We have this hugs chaos thing here going on which is worlwide known as Oktoberfest. SIGH. The fav song of the Americans: YMCA!
